Don't know what Jason is ever on about.
However i have used them for outside of transoms, hanging off steelwork, handrails off steel, bottom of ledger brace and used to do a lot using RMD soldiers cantlievering to pick up entire scaffolds etc so they were useful then.

Generally we would use only polished ebony or mahogany until those bloody tree huggers stuck their oars in....then we used them.
