impact drill

We are in the 21st century/ think i might have to invest in one /wonder if snap-on make these beauties

phil its not about using expensive tools, its about my health mate, i've been scaffolding 22 years, i think my hands & shoulders need a break, if i can reduce the amount of wear & tear on them, why shouldn't i consider it?

By using a heavy drill in awkward positions all day mate?

**the drill**

HI Chaps, listen we got the drills 2day and there a good bit of kit. flippin ekk the job gets done alot quicker. im impressed wid it. but takes some gettin used 2.:unsure::unsure::unsure:

come on phil, they dont weigh a ton, most are about 1.3-1.6kg they are small & compact, if i use it for 50% of my day thats a lot of wear & tear saved from my aching muscles & bones.

if you dont agree then dont post up on this thread, fair enough?

No that's not fair enough - I'm entitled to an opinion!

I thought this was supposed to be a discussion board. I didn't realise the rules state that you can only post if you agree with everyone else.

I haven't been rude or provocative, I'm just engaging in a debate on a public website. Sorry if you don't agree with my opinions.

I bet ud love that drill hanging off ur belt tho. banging out 40ft high 30 foot long towers up with 16 ft table lift n top in an hour? well thats what me an scaff no2 done 2day no ****. gaffers gone if production goes up money goes up. fuckin top money chaps. sorry 4 braggin couldnt keep it in any longa.

read all the posts on the subject, for an against. If it reduces wear an tear on the joints might be a good idea. been on the spanners 40 odd years, doc tells me i've got ostro arthritis in the wrists, puts it down to wear and tear. bit late for me to change now, but younger scaffs should consider it.Brandy.

Unfortunately I'm off the tools these days mate and probably never could scaffold again anyway due to a medical condition.
Although if I did go back on the tools, it would certainly be with a good old fashioned swing over spanner.

ok lads spoke to mark @ hilti today i'm waiting for him to get back to me regarding price & what we get for our hard earned, i will post up in general chat when i've got all the info;)

thats best price i've seen, you got a link where you got it from or a phone number, i'll ask them if there is a discount for a group buy:D

I used to get a 7/16" and 1/2" box with 2 rivets from Leaches in New Cross for £13.00!

You've been done mate!

phil have i or anyone else pissed you off somehow? seems you have a point to make regarding these impact wrenches:sad:

You did upset me slightly yesterday mate, yes. (Post #93)

I'm not having a pop but I just think it's farcical that scaffolders are even considering using these tools for everyday work. The cons are far greater than than any possible pros, in my humble opinion.

apologies for yesterday, my motives are slightly different as i posted, dont want to work my arse off on price, just want to reduce aches & pains which i think it will do, may not need it if i get right results from my NEBOSH:nuts:

Hey no worries mate, I know what it's like sometimes.

I've got no reason to knock anyone for wanting to use these peices of kit (although I wouldn't let any of my men use one)
I don't work on the tools anymore and probably will never be able to again anyway, so it doesn't really affect me. It's just that I can see so many pittfalls with using these drills when scaffolding it's untrue.
Prove me wrong and I'll buy you a pint.
Good luck with the NEBOSH.

Cheers.
