Strike action looms at site of new Shetland Total gas terminal
Strike action is set to shut down construction work on the new multi-million pound Total gas terminal at Sullom Voe in Shetland on Friday.

Members of the GMB and Unite unions have rejected an offer of extra money to compensate them for having to share accommodation.

An offer from employers at the construction company Petrofac was made after two days of talks.

Unite said action on Friday would be the first of a series of strikes.

The construction project is due to be completed this summer.

The £3bn gas plant is next to the Sullom Voe terminal, which handles production from fields off Shetland.

The new adjacent gas plant is being built by the French company Total.

Offer put forward of £15 a day for travel allowances or shared accommodation has failed to curry favour with workers.

Workers say they want to receive the same £50 a day which, they maintain, supervisors received for sharing accommodation.
Members would stage a 24 hour strike beginning from this Friday. If subsequent talks fail to thrash out a deal union members will stage further walkouts for the next two Fridays
thereafter.
This will ongoing in the next few weeks so all shifts Ie the crews that are on leave at this time get there chance to talk and take action
