I've seen its a five year notice period so i dont think ill panic yet as i have just renewed mine till Jan 2016. I think this will be sorted soon as it looks like a financial issue probably with the end user bearing the brunt of it.

The notice period will last five years unless the two parties terminate the contract earlier by mutual agreement.

Ill bet the card and test goes up and thats my personal opinion not any knowledge whoever takes it on.

The future of the industry’s skills card scheme was thrown into question this week after the CITB revealed it is cutting its ties with the scheme.

CITB-ConstructionSkills - which administers the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS), used by over 1.6 million workers - revealed it has put its contract on notice.

The move, prompted by commercial differences, ends an often turbulent 16-year partnership. Sources close to the situation claimed personality clashes and disputes over how income had been divided between between the two bodies had contributed to the schism.

The news has sparked fears that the CSCS card scheme will be damaged by the end of its association with the industry’s government-backed skills council.

CSCS cards are demanded as proof of occupational competence by most major clients and contractors on sites.

James Wates, chairman of CITB, admitted the relationship had been difficult but dismissed any suggestion of a recent falling out.

He said: “It’s been a challenging relationship because it’s been a difficult contract for both sides to work within. But I don’t think there’s been real dissonance.
“The [recent] disagreement was around detailed terms of the contract, which I won’t go into because they’re commercial.”

Mark Farrar, CITB chief executive, said: “CITB continues to fully support the scheme for the duration of our agreed contract.”

The notice period will last five years unless the two parties terminate the contract earlier by mutual agreement.

The CSCS indicated it will consult on how best to administer the scheme.

The falling out between two bodies has provoked dismay from the industry.

One source close to the CSCS said: “You’ve got to ask questions when two boards that are drawn from the same organisations can’t agree.”

Strange one this as they all work from the same address along with the Construction Awards Alliance.
 
agreed when this relationship ends the new alternative will most prob double in price,bit of a shock mind you with the fall out they must have run out of space under their bed to stash all the loot they are making.
 
So will the CISRS card be unvalid ?? will we have to do another training course ? for a new type of card..
 
So does anyone know if the CISRS card will be fazed out ??

A bit background history of CITB/Construction Skills and CSCS.

CITB/Construction skills.
Our governance

We are governed by a strong industry-led, non-executive Board, headed by a part time Chairman and Deputy Chairman, who are appointed by the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills.

Our Board consists of 14 employers, two members representing employees, two representing Further and Higher Education, and a client member.

Board members serve for five years. Our Board is advised by a number of industry-led committees.

As an Industry Training Board, there are 7 industry-led committees reporting into the Board, and as a Sector Skills Council, 10 committees report into the Strategic Partnership Panel (SPP), which includes the Chief Executives of CITB-ConstructionSkills, the Construction Industry Council and CITB-ConstructionSkills in Northern Ireland.

The main function of the Board is in the provision, approval and financial support of training. The Board and Committees meet regularly to ensure adequate consultation between industry representatives and staff.

About Us
CSCS exists to meet industry needs and is managed by CSCS Limited whose Directors all come from the Construction Industry. It is a Company Limited by Guarantee and therefore has no shareholders.

The members of the board are from the UK Contractors Group, the Civil Engineering Contractors Association, the Federation of Master Builders, GMB Union, National Specialist Contractors Council, T&G Section of UNITE (Building Crafts Section) and Union of Construction, Allied Trades and Technicians. The Construction Industry Council and the Construction Clients Group are also represented on the Board.

ConstructionSkills administers the Scheme under contract.

Supporters
CSCS is demanded as proof of competence by organisations from across the industry as well as employers, clients and Government.

All sites registered under the Considerate Constructors Scheme are required to declare the percentage of workers who hold CSCS cards and to record details of site operatives' and visitors CSCS cards.

The Office of Government Commerce (OGC) through its document Common Minimum Standards for the Procurement of Built Environments in the Public Sector, states that governmental clients “are to include a contract clause requiring that all members of the supply teams who are workers or a regular visitor to a construction site are registered on the CSCS scheme”.

The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) has made it clear through its support of Construction Commitments 2012 and its own health and safety standard that all professional and site staff involved in construction of the Olympic facilities will be required to hold a valid CSCS card or card affiliated to the scheme.

Collaboration
Constructing Better Health (CBH) and CSCS became sister companies in 2009 to add further value to the Scheme and to support the needs of the construction industry for the management of proof of competency and work-related health.
