Saudi Arabia

Quality of the work force my Ar__e, its down to who has the fattest brown envelope simple, i was out there for them in 2009 and they are a sack of sh_te. including mr Gizzi.

Qatar, cant say ive seen any envelopes and believe me im looking.
I dont work for cape but deal with the management regularly and they seem sound enough to me. Gino was always ok to get on with as well.
I cant speak about 2009 as i wasn't dealing with them at that time so maybe things changed when you left.

Gordon i dont come on here to slag people off i just say as i see it, if what i say upsets you then so be it.

If you help guys out then thats great, i'm all for that. I have personal experiences and have seen things with my own eyes, you actually have a guy on a project here in Qatar (Barzan) by the name of .... who is an absolute no mark. JGC had to be persuaded to keep him on project as they are one of many companies that discovered most of his qualifications listed in his CV were fraudulent and the management of CAPE here in Qatar know it but they still kept him becasue he was cheap and couldn't get any one else for the job. The guy is only there because he has been sucking up to the right person and not through merit, he couldn't organise a p_ss up in a brewery, you say that your staff are highly trained etc but when it comes down to it your laggers become scaffolders over night along with the blasters and painters and companies here get piss_ed off with it. You may think i have an axe to grind with your mob but i haven't, i just get sick of listening to the boll_cks about how good CAPE are etc, there are companies out here who would blow your guys apart when it comes down to the nitty gritty of doing the job, you go low on scaffolding and high on refactory, thats the only difference (price) not quality. Yes you win work and yes you lose it thats the way of the world. i know of at least one situation that happened not to long ago where a client was asked by CAPE (what can we do to make this happen) and the guy wasn't talking about taking him for lunch thats for sure. read into that what you want, the client responded by telling them to fk off and come back with a good price (simple but effective) and fair play that man. You can continue to sing from the highest mountain but sometimes guys like you walk around with blinkers on and cant see whats in front. If you want to go right into it i would be happy to talk to you privately. MR Deemess Gino is a RAT through and through

your right qatar,i was working for capes just last wk and found most the scaffs there dont even know the theory let alone the practical and i found most of them are part 1 waiting to go on there part2,and theres me cos not been there long Advanced getting layed off,its not how good scaf you are now a days whos ass you can suck up tp and lick the most now,i"ve been scaffolding 25yrs and its sh.t that us more experience guys get sh.t on and layed off cos we wont suck up to wan..rs in charge.

It just goes to show what this guy is all about really when most of the company he so fondly talks of about is run by a vast majority of indians (so as for him saying he helps BRITS out, i just wonder how many he has actually employed and has on his books in the GCC? NOW THAT WOULD BE AN INTERESTING ANSWER (over to you Gordon Hendry from DUNCEFERMLINE) PS PROBABLY ANOTHER EX LAGGER/FIREPROOFER WHO KNOWS FK ALL ABOUT SCAFFOLDING.

When I worked for Cape they had a positive practice of not currying favour with clients by brown envelopes or entertaining. In fact it seemed to go against them there as I was constantly asked by the client and EPCM contractor why senior people from Cape didnt visit them or arrange things for them. I was also told that other competitors were far ahead of us on the "corporate hospitality" side of things. So fair play to Cape on that score. The company certainly has many faults but bribery is not one of them.
I can also say that I was one of the few scaffolders in a senior position managing a 100 million dollar contract and that indeed they do employ others in positions where they have no experience. But remember Cape started as an insulation company and is now an industrial services provider with scaffolding as a small cog in a big wheel.

Just new to this forum as you can see been on nightshift offshore & came across this site by chance but from what i am reading here is a typical example of Laggers , Insulators ext ext who have been made up to the roll of REP , instead of letting the scaffs get on with the jobs, keep the paperwork up to date ext ext they seem to know it all yes ( F**k ALL ) . Over the last few years i have worked with a number of Reps & not one from a scaffolding background & if there not thinking your pulling the wool over their eyes they think your tossing it off cause a certain job wasnt finished on time , now im not getting into this silly slagging off match that seemed to have came about on here just putting my point across .

Yes i can confirm that gordon is a scaffolder, as i have worked with him my self off shore for RBG.

worked with both salamis & rbg offshore & basicly not intrested whos a scaff & who ain t i couldnt give a flying f&*k my jobs bigger than your job , your ladder isnt 4 runs over crap big wall . read what i wrote before you get all upset

Wgogs, you probably got your advanced out fo a sweetie machine in 1984 (plum)

yes i can confirm you have your nose up his ar_se

Biffo,
If you think I am an insulator you can be no further from the truth, I have been scaffolding for 31 years and had my advanced card since 1984.

I hope that clears that up and stops the slagging off !!

It does for me but heres a suggestion for the other guys. Remmeber the "card show"? Lets get admin to only allow full membership based on your CITB number. Im up for it who else is????

Not being funny here but ive heard of blokes blowing their own trumpet but self praise & patting your own backs makes me laugh . im not intrested on how many years you ve had your tickets for 80s 90s ???? if i can remember rightly were CITB not giving out tickets in that erea & all you needed was to be working for a scaffolding firm for 2 /. 3 years mark me if im right or wrong here ......
In my time on the spanners ive met all sorts of blokes with tickets & without & take my word for it ive worked with some good blokes in the past who just never bothered puting in for there tickets so basicly had no ticket but were good at their job , you have probably never worked with such a man as by going where you started Kincardine power station ( blue book ) dont know if you were ever on the street working & im not talking about system work here im talking tube & fitting you would have met such a good man .
From what i can see you's have done well for yourselfs , climed the ladder moverd to better things & fair play to you but to suggest that this site ( SCAFFOLDERS FORUM ) should only be made availible to scaffolders with valid CITB / NVQ , SVQ tickets who can prove who they are ???? never heard so much crap in all my puff actually showed the boys out here offshore & we were all on the floor laughing , so how would the young ones coming thru get advice , get a job ext as after all these kids aint got their feet in the door yet & with this great nation of ours having a shorage of jobs for the youngsters how would they get that advice , that job which we can find on here ?????. or would it be yous lot who would pick & chose who would get the shout in so controling who gets the job .
it makes me laugh that you only thank the ones who agree with you welcome to the real world & get off the high chair as its only a job & remember your only a number couldnt give a flying F**k what yous think of this

At least swifty in in our real world
