i am a unite member and have been since it was the AEU and have had many many conversations and feedback regarding the blacklists please enlighten me
i will try and see if its on bbc iplayer
as for the ECITB TICKET i dont doubt that guys were all good scaffs but i have met many who got their cards through a supervisor signing off the paperwork,i had an advanced ECITB card for many years even though i only had a part 2 citb, which i always thought a wee bit dodgy;)

one based on exsperience!!! happyhugenoet and one based on trainning!!! the ecitb had 2 decades of exsperience behind it. where the cisrs ticket has 2 weeks per course both can get signed off by a supervisor or a scaffold company!! lets be honnest the cisrs tickets are given out if you have the money for the course then you gain the exsperience:laugh:

To be honest I was on a job in Holland and the company asked anyone if they wanted an ECITB card.
Most of the window cleaners, landscape gardeners and cooks who the company employed as donkeys ended up with one!!
Like everything it is open to abuse if put into unscrupulous hands.
However I still think that they should have just transferred ECITB to CISRS at the time. If a few undeserving cases got through then so be it. Theres plenty who got CISRS cards from car parks and the ASRE.

both valid statements dico and hswt
dico you state that the ecitb had 20 years behind it,how long did it take you to get one and how many men actually did the improvership ?
SCAFFOLDING is always a learning curve and everyday is a school day, nobody comes out of a training centre with every peice of knowledge he will ever need, but the trainers and instructors are trainers with a certain degree of knowledge.you cant always say that of the Scaffolders we have been put with to learn from, thas as true on the industrial side as on the building/construction side.
The way the transition was dealt with was a disgrace, but it was on the cards for years it didnt happen overnight.;)
PS any news on your missing details etc

I am an advanced scaffolder!

I am the best in the game!!!

As I see it:cool:

Been scaffolding 30 years!

Still learning!!

I had someone say in another thread doctors qualifiy in less than three years why should scaffolders take 10!

Thats because if the job is not right then the worker on the scaffold ends up with your fast route doctor!!!

If you just do domestic then two to three years, industrial four, house bashing on new sites four specialist temp roofs supports & conservation buildings 10 years for an advanced ticket!!

The whole system is ******!!!

Ragscaff

Oh here we go, David Icke is back with more nonsense.

What is it this time, the CITB is run by a bunch of lizard aliens disguised as humans?

make you right happyhugenoet it didnt happen overnight but unfortunatly with the industrial sector most employers didnt want to put there men on courses incase they jacked after they received there tickets and jumped on other jobs and like you say the transaction was a disgrace!! but it still trolleys on!!! for instance my work partner who i work with on a daily basis had a ecitb ticket the same as me hes done the part 1 part 2 the same as me but my firm still paye him as a part 2 which is fine as iam not one to hold a grudge also got another lad that has had a ecitb ticket advanced that has done the part 1 and part 2 but still gets payed advanced ecitb rate!!! theres no secrets everybody no what everybody gets!! unfortunatly on thursdays we go to bank and cheque wages weve all done the same work through the week but my wages are down 40% less than the other two lads and on 7 days your talking £300 a week thats without holiday credits that are lower as well as travel exspences so its above the £300 mark a week!! the reason these lads still get there ecitb rate is the firm cant touch it as there still on the wage system!! but where i got layed off january 2013 and restarted with the firm they will only reconise part 1 trainee rate!!! yes ive moaned and a few are ****!d off with this thread but its still costing me hundreds iam in talks with unite and theve come good to be honnest beter than the last unite officer. the problem ive got now is with the head office that seem to be hideing in the sand so now the firm that payed me advance for over 10 yrs are not playing ball!! yes paperwork found and sorted happyneouts and got a result which i will reveal at a later date

Yes, very good.

Unfortunately it's even harder to take you seriously now.

Considering that you have no knowledge of the bureaucracy that goes hand-in-hand with high value, complex and often high profile work with blue-chip contractors, then I suggest that you are not qualified to pass judgement on the side of the industry that is investing huge amounts of time and effort in trying to cope with their requirements and needs.

The problem with you, is that you're in a little bubble. You think that you're some kind of 'industry expert' although the fact is that you have about as much industry knowledge to cope with the major players as Roger Nutkins does.

You criticise the only people who actually DO anything to progress the scaffolding industry into the 21st century, yet offer no alternatives or solutions of your own.
.
You offer nothing to this industry apart from sneering and sniping at others who ACTUALLY try to change and improve things, yet, you cannot take any criticism back.

You're happy to employ scaffolders are self employed. No holiday pay? No employment rights? No free-issue PPE? No redundancy? That's not of interest to you, is it? Yet you come on here like your some kind of 'messiah' with the best interests of scaffolders at heart. Don't make me laugh!

You think that you're some kind of industry 'leader' although, clearly, you could not run a bath.

Which is the reason most people, including myself, think that you're a complete knob.

As usual Phil good reading!!

Do not get the bit about self employed scaffolders?

Yes I will use guys who choose to be self employed & I supply their PPE!

I also have full time employees who again are supplied with full PPE!

Please explain why scaffolders cannot be self employed or work for an agency if they choose to?

Depending on the work load we may need to get extra hands in so will use the appropriate resources at hand rather than someones mate out of the pub. It makes sense both for productivity & safety.

Thanks for the interest :D:suspicious:

No interest, just observations.

What about the other stuff?

Interesting. What happens if you put too much cold water in? Do you have to let some water out?
Us overseas scaffolders have maids to run baths and things like that.;)

Does the water spin the other way when they pull the plug out for you or do you not get to see that bit!!:worried::sad2:
