Hey everyone Ime new to scaffolding I was a combat soldier for several years left the military and worked on power stations last few years but I want new career offshore really bad so if anybody could give me any sort of information about achieving this I would be much grateful thanks

Welcome to the forum Monk, Im surprised you havnt had a reply to your post. There are quite a few ex servicemen on the forum, you should get a bit of info and a big welcome. Where are you based??

Hey cheers buddy and Ime not in no more but when I was in if I was in Afghanistan Iraq or Ireland or among the other bells on earth I spent most my base time in Essex Colchester or aldershot but living in nottingham now buddy n I don't get on too well in your every day job so this is my next career choice thanks for reply too matey

Hope you get sorted. If its scaffolding you want as a career, it has its up and downs lol,bad weather cr.p conditions, some of the off shore boys will join in at some point. Have you any training at all. I would say get on as a scaffs lab to start with, or go on a course for part 1 ticket to start . Costs a few quid, maybe some govt funding. An hgv licence would get you thru a few doors.

Welcome to the forum monk. As the oracle says you will no doubt be un-indated with replys. All the best .

Watch that scaffy 1980 monk, he's a well known stalker.lolol He's a fine scaff tho, have a look at the albums section, were all waiting for the vids:laugh::laugh:

Sounds like annother ex para comng into the game me finks

Yer I've just done my part one and I can claim others throught the army but it's a ball ache to be honest just better of doing it your self and as for the crap conditions ect they won't phase me Ime used to those I haven't much experience as in building scaffold but on power station ya prolly know you work with them and around them all the time and offshore I love the life style got amps of experience in that but on the Maritime side of things obviously completely different from the rigs but what Ime saying I don't mind being out at see away from home for long periods of time in fact I prefer it cheers again for your time fellas

Haha n that's why I can't get on in a normal job there no banter

Thought so one of my mates is still in 3para morters.
U got a lot of good qualities that will see you well in this industry.but take some advise from one airbourne soldier to another.
use ur EDLs to progress with ur quals - your gonna need much more experiance b4 either going offshore or into industrial as your gonna need to av the ability to see the job in ur minds eye 1st. & ur only gonna get that with steet & site work....shiiit time of year to start tbh with the weather etc but the building boom is starting again this year so if you got a ticket happydays.
if you need any advise pm me

Oh yer I get a lot of mates in mortars whats his name I prob know him and yet I've still got three claims to do from the army e clas thing I looked into it a few times but all looks a brain **** n complicated plus don't think I get do scaffolding thought it but I do need to use em if Ime entitled to em

Jamie davis. If you know him

ELCs are only applicable for level 3 & above but ur resettlement creds can be used for pt 1&2
