Beams up right way?

Alan the industry would be back in the scaffolders hand. The youth would gain experience from chargehands and the HSE would be scared to talk to us as scaffs have always been a little off

You may well be right Steveo, but we we make no advances we make no change
regards
Alan

Apparently you can mix Layher/Plettac/Metalusa. Even scaffom has been mentioned :)

http://www.scaffoldersforum.com/scaffolding-jobs/18944-hire-bulk-amounts-layher-scaffolding.html

Not to be advised!
Whilst beams may look similar and may fit together they may have differing values.

In the world in which we live you would without doubt have trouble justifying the mix if there was an undesirable event.
How could you pursue a claim through either the courts or insurers?

When ally beams were introduced they were sold as being stronger than ladder beams. Who has seen ladder beam welds pop like this ?

Dont think so mate.!!!

Fred my thoughts on the ECITB card are can be viewed on here but it's gone bud get on it or don't. Even Dico is trying. ( come on Dico.)[/QUOTE]

:embarrest:yes you know when youve been beaten. scaffoldingsafetyservices!!! but when youve been lucky enough to be payed for your 4 weeks wages and the two course,s you would be a fool not to take the challenge. thats why myself and animal took the plunge. iam not going to comment on the course as were just gana go over olde ground!! but it seems these days you get the cisrs ticket then you get the exsperience to become a scaffolder. i know you supported the ecitb scaffolder steve so take me hat off to you. and all the lads that supported us exspecially ragscaff. sorry to hijack your thread hooper but had to make me peace.

Dico I don't take any sides, if I feel that something is not right then I voice my opinion bud.
As you can tell my latest bug bear is the designers issue. I was contacted by a certain person who was going to raise it at the NASC technical meeting as this person also had concerns. I will await for the official NASC statement in regards of this, or will they hide behind the wall and hope it will go away. The simple answer to that is NO it will not.

What ever makes this industry better can only be better for everyone involved in it. I have a big passion for my industry, if I hadn't I would have walked away years ago. So come on NASC hear this voice and issue your statement.

Nasc is political now mate will pick and choose its battles that suits its own ends, mad how at the industrial so called high design end of the game these things are being thrashed out,if only we could get some clear clarification and responsibility by designers engineers employers and training providers then maybe we could drive the wages up because it is recognised as skilled labour, shame Alan reade isn't on here more, sad thing when I get important facts and info off a forum!

Fu## me just seen a pic of the hanger, found scaff safety services a bit condescending in a few replies and if compression tension on something that small comes into play you better get mi6 involved ,what redundancy is built into those beams before they snap right or wrong way up ,if we can get a simple tonne loading not to go over ?
Oh I bet the fittings slip before the beams snap

Do you like being ripped off?

Design engineers can mug most scaffs & clients off.....because most scaffs & clients are too thick & lazy to know any different or argue the point!! Let me now quote Roosevelt & be philosophical.......ooh look at me, I am a designer!!!'

With great power comes great responsibility ,,,Spiderman,if your intimidated by intelligence then your not prepared to learn a thing,,,Alan reade has helped me and took time to bridge the gap between scaffs and designers and if their were more of his ilk in our game ,lowly scaffs like me would have a lot more usable knowledge to fire back when site agents and 2 day safety officers pull me on my jobs, keep up the good work Alan as I for one am a sucker for a quote,,,,you had me at hello ;)

Couldnt Agree More Joe, I Had A Severe Run In With A Health And Safety Consultant This Morning, I Am Totally Hacked Off Just Now Truth Be Told, Fekker Looked About 15 Years Old. Another Two Day Inspector.

I'm not pulling Alan down he has some great knowledge and is a gem to the forum.

What did surprise me was the negativity in his response. Plenty can be done, design engineers should have a minimum structural engineering degree, have an NVQ style work assessment (to ensure calculations accuracy & their work practices follow BS:5975, if they want to operate as a bonafide/competent business!! IstructE does something similar. Easy to form competency standards.

Did you say now then now then would you like me to fix it for ya.lol

Bit naive then, designers as with engineers deal in exacts and facts and are also known to be miserable negative bastds :D

I have to agree on some of it( rough designers) but I have had the pleasure of dealing with quite a few over the years and I can personally say that the 1's you want to deal with want to be involved from day 1. I won't name company names as it would seem as biased but someone did mention A on a earlier posting. Within 5 minutes of meeting this guy I realised that they are too many muppets which I have dealt with in the past.

How many have used a designer and have had the send me a pic and ill do a design to suit.

**** off.
