well its pretty much a re-run of the derby only another 2 furlongs , main sequence was unbeaten until the weekend and was staying on , and "was" the o brien horse just won over 1m4f staying on , so i think one of them , it's a clue that ladbrokes will not give u a price about "was" at the moment , so one of them , main sequence at 10/1 with lads and "was" at 12/1 with willie hill

It's not greed it's wanting paying the going rates for a advanced scaffolder if people want to work for less than there worth then it's ok I was just saying for a 10 hour day 120 is not enough
 
i dunno johnny , i think main sequence has the beating of it , it stayed on to beat astrology over 1m4f , so youd think 1m6 would see the same result , its all about opinions i suppose

apologies for the change of subject , all i can say is when i look job website i see jobs everywhere in london and 1 pound here or there doesnt bother me , i cant wait to bet back in the game as im a single guy an i dont care whether its 550 per week 525 , or whatever , its all good for me , as far as recession/depression goes its all ******** , it doesnt stop until some governor of the bank of england or whatevr says this or that , its just like the money markets , up or down depending on whatever bull some guy in a suit is saying , all kidology
 
Jb I agree but over 60 hours a week 3 pound a hour starts to add up

You get a break when you sit your part 2, after you pass you can start going to bed at a reasonable hour.

i see where you're comin from but what if its not advanced work- just cos anyone has a advanced ticket does that naturally mean they should be paid advanced pay if its only basic work (some thing to ponder on or maybe open a new thread on)
i know advanced scaffs that are house bashing and quite happy to be on£120
but true they would expect more if offshore of something special- we have scaffs on with us that have HGV class 1s but dont get any xtra for havin it as we dont have artics -think its horses for couses i never said anything about being gratefull,just about having a bit of common sense at the end of the day though if u think its worth more than fine if unemployed they can stay so and let someone with the skillset and sense to earn money do it
most scaffolders have a lot of pride in the skill and tickets - fair enough- but pride will never keep a roof over ur head or food on ur table
 
I know what your saying but there after advanced lads so they should pay the right money I am getting 15 a hour an traveling 45 mins just thought if they want advanced lads they should pay the right rate too many lads are cutting there own throats and company's are driving the wage down the whole were in a recession we can't pay anymore is crap company's have been trying to bring the wage down for years cause there all under cutting each other an it's us lot that suffer

Jim as well as owning the company i'm very much on the tools on a daily basis,- i cant talk for others but i know one thing for sure-

- if there was xtra money in the jobs i'd pay other people to do the dirty work and turn the spanner that i deal with everyday

i'd like to think that i'm one of the older guys on the forum and have a great deal of experiance,and like others can remember the good old days, of limited h&s, good rate, but like many companies we cant and have no say over the ecconmic climate - its worldwide for fcuks sake,
but i do remember and recognise that all these good times in the 80s+ were before the wall fell and the tunnel was built and our country and industries were raped and govenend by the EU laws and treaties and the influx of cheep europeanean labour to all aspects of our lives,that were then housed and given money along with a vast number of billions of pounds in foreign aid by a goverenment who have decided to forget and abandon its own peoples needs in lieu of human rights-

shiit and shiit decisions have a tendancy to roll down hill,and unfortunatly the building industry to which we are part of is at the bottom of that hill so takes a big bump- hense theres not as much money,and people with their own companies try and hold on for as long as they can,often because to fold means not just losing the company but everything they have built over many years around it as well, i dont thik you understand ....its not the companies driving the wages down with under cutting but the whole economy thats beening driven down- if i didnt think it would get better then i'd sell up tomororr,it will but i think its gonna get a whole lot worse first

Spoken like a true business man it’s the same all over Europe not just the uk. What scaffs don’t realise is! if you own a business like you do and god forbid it folds, well you will not get a cent from the government as you are expected to live on what you earned as a business man, that is why all these small companies undercut to survive (just my opinion I could be way off the mark)correct me if I’m wrong

I moan that the sand is too white and the beer too cheap.

i can say honestly that some of the cleverest people ive met have been scaffs but sadly some of the stupidest(is that a word) also
