it was a shithole like £10 drink till u drop good old days
 
Even with the NEBOSH genaral certificate that's a pretty low wage. With the diploma it's a fekking insult! £40k+ at least.

I have the certificate and so have loads of others, managers, supervisors and any one else prepared to spunk 1000 pound or more on a course.
Unless you are lucky you will struggle to get a start with a certificate with no experience
A diploma carries more clout but is much harder to get,but once again they will be looking for experience

I also have the certificate & a fair bit of H&S experiance from the work I did before scaffolding.
They're asking for an experianced diploma qualified man for £22-30k. Proper **** take. it's like asking for an advanced scaffolder with a minimum of 15 years for £7:50 ph.

I agree it is a low wage and I think there are a few unemployed H&S people about who will go for that job though
 
know a guy who was a gaffer of painters , did survival and nebosh , and away he went , just like that ,good job , good money .

just last week i seen that there is now a NEBOSH specifically for the offshore/oil and gas sector but at the moment it could only be done in saudi and asia .

but the wage for that job doesnt seem that good , maybe its a reflection of the value placed on the Neb. certificate .

Entry Requirements
The NEBOSH Certificate has no formal entry requirements But

Examination Style
The Unit is a taught unit assessed by one two-hour written

‘short-answer’ questions and one ‘long-answer’ question. All
questions are compulsory. Candidate scripts are marked by
external examiners appointed by NEBOSH.
Course Duration
Five days Theory + 1 Day Exam.

I'd imagine someone who was a scaff with offshore ex. then got this course , would do well , just wish they'd do this course in britain , eventually,hopefully.​

Some fellahs are lucky and fall into a job straight away,but going by my own experience it was not like that I got the certificate way back in 99 and tried for a few jobs even low paid ones to get a start and did not get a sniff .
I had advanced scaffold card, survival the lot as well,Perhaps I should of been more "imaginative" on my CV ,anyway I haven't tried since as I am settled in my career as barman in Wetherspoons
