Apologies for the delay in replying to your post---is it unachievable and a bridge too far to have aspirations of a Scaffolders Pool ???...

We, like many other Forum Members have worked behind the seines on Projects, Training and self learning initiatives for the betterment of our Industry and the Scaffolders who serve it, are we all dreamers or is there an end product that will benefit the Scaffolders ???.

If we do not aspire to better and greater things what is the point of all the pontification ???.

Garry, I think it would only work if a strong Human Resource/Admin was heading it up.
There would also be expenses such as payroll, insurance and general office stuff that might require a initial investment.
 
Scarfs... Ive bought a few face mask things encase of sand storms, lol.

Its not like the job was offered and the wages are so bad (like the £9 an hour tripe, we're offered here) and no one wanted to volunteer... is it?

There was hundreds and hundreds of guys who applied for this so called 'crap' job and 6 were chosen.
£1250 after tax and all expenses paid is still nigh-on double what the average Scaffolder earns in the UK after 6 days, is it not? - Not exactly like we're shafting anyone else is it?

Also, its not like the job was billed at £2000 a week and we 6 offered to work for less is it?

i agree HSWT , and yeah jason everything you said there is correct. im surprised they dont get 1 brit and some local labour for the rest , must actually be the type of work where you need skilled men.
 
Well theres 5 good blokes going out there and me... so ill be labouring. :p
 
im thinkin of when i got £1700 a week , and that was in las palmas , in a 5 star hotel , and drove to work and back , compared to what you'll get where your going , i know which job id rather have.

no one said you where stitching anyone up .

the money is ****, with no social life....i got 20years experiance and im only 35,if you want those kinda workers ya gona have to dig deeper than that mate, you lose more money in ya weeks off than ya gain,and thats if ya can get something else lined up when ya back home........for putting up with ******* muslims.

People wanna work for £8 an hour, fine... i think its shiite, but then again its got absolutely NOTHING to do with me if they do or dont.

Fact is, is that our collective wage aint gone up in about 10 years... i was getting my £150 a shift 5 years ago and before that over Canary Wharf myself and Essex was getting £175 a day more then 5 years ago, with as much overtime as we could do (which he'll confirm).

Im earning £900+ a week after tax now - week in week out and im at home in my own bed each night... why am i going??? - For my own reasons, like all the other 5 are.

Its got absolutely f.uck all to do with anyone else what we do out there or why we chose to go.
End of.

some people sell there selfs out to cheap....and if you ask me, thats whats ruining this game.....i dont give two hoots as to why your going, i was talking to the bloke doing the hiring,not the monkeys hes got going.

35 with 20 years exsperience bet you were fooking good at 15 years of age!!! if your any good your never out of work even when you get home. each to there own if you wana work away good luck to these guys!!! if theve got a wife like mine i would be lucky to go missing for 24 hours unfortunatly 1.600 a week for 7 days is either here or there these days!!! in england anyway!!!top line maybe but!!!! take home nahhh unless your on a fiddle

I myself... im 30, but ive been Scaffolding 47 years, because i used to bang up lumps when i was a sperm... :notrust:
 
What I find quite interesting is when the job was on offer not many came to the call, now it's gone we are heading to 30 pages of opinions. It's easy to say one way or another when you know you will never have to leave the house. For me, I think I would have quite liked to have been in a position to apply and kind of jealous of the guys going. It might not be all that but certainly an experience awaits and at least we will have Jasons utube posts to keep us going.
