Hi dave b 2, I doubt very much it's your cv, experience or skill that's the problem with these companies it's perseverance that usually pay's off in time. When I was looking to get offshore it took me the best part of a year to get a kick in the door and only then for a job that didn't suit all as it was contracting which meant you were away usually for three weeks home no more than a few day's when the call came again to go all for the same money than the boy's were getting for their 2 on 2 off. It suited me down to the ground at the time and wasn't too long before the jobs got better, but as with most thing in life good things come to those who get out there and take them.

That's the only way if you don't know anyone on the inside. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Keep firing CV s and everything else in . Sometimes it takes time but you will get in . Is your CV in with hertel , I hear they are in for de-com work .All the best .

Call everyday, have all your cards up to date aswell, bit extreme but it really helps if your based in Aberdeen ( North sea ) they know they can call you at short notice.
Once you get a trip, you'll be fine, its hard getting that 1st one though..

Good luck mate.

mate i got offshore without knowing anyone it took me 4 months kept sending CV's by email and post twice a week and phoning 2 twice a week keep at it you will get there all the best

Just keep trying . Im assuming you never been offshore before . The reason your not getting off is because you havent got offshore experience . Once you get one trip you ll be sorted . It took me over a year to get my first trip but ever since i have found it easy enough to get off when ever iv fancied drying out in the north sea . Best advice is to take any thing even if its only a couple of days or a bit of cover . Even a couple of days offshore counts as offshore experience. Another one is the offshore companies will offer you onshore work . Taking this for a few weeks will get you in wiyh them

I know it sounds stupid and it wil do ur head in . The only time a scaff with no offshore experience gets off is if they can absolutely not find some one who has . Just keep plugging away and faxing cv s . Dont email cv as there too easily deleted or ignored and never leave messages as the machines are never checked. Ring every day if you can . Are you ringing the main desks or direct numbers .

wonder if any 1 can help im after agencys that deal with offshore has anyone got any names thanks

Been a while but I used to work for Atlantic resources. Don't even know if they are still around, Gary would be the man to ask.

Try McDonalds , they do a lot of drilling work .Make sure it`s the one in Invergorden or Inverness you contact and not your local one .

That reminds me are the MacDonald's still doing offshore work with maritime?
