Just an idea and it might not work

Lads, the sccr is scaffs for scaffs,not suits for money.

Sccr started when scaffs on this forum,unhappy with changes made to the industry, got together to try and do something about it.
There are a lot of issues to resolve. None of the committee earn any money from the sccr. In the case of our chairman,Stewart Quinny, he has spent a fortune, his own money,and 1000s of hours Writing reports phone calls. trying to bring the hse and other bodies to the table to discuss these issues. While still working on the tools.
Taking up the cause for all scaffs on saftey issues and changes to working practises without consultation. Eictb,scaff step,forced courses at your expence. The list goes on
Info on changes or updates to working practices you have to pay for.
WHY? Other industries inform the operatives on changes as a matter of nessessary information.
Not the case for scaffs. You will have to buy info packs or pay to go on a course.
Without doubt,the sccr needs members,more importantly,scaffs need the sccr. As long as there is a threat to the people that make the changes,they will have to consider their actions carefully.
Of course the sccr will fight your case.
Unfortunately this costs,and a small contribution to help still leaves the sccr out of pocket.
We all feel the same about umbrella companies,petitions carry more weight with numbers. You know the old saying. United we stand.

Again how do the SCCR make money from either agencies or umbrella companies? One question at a time.

Don't confuse the SCCR with unions. Have either of you ever visited our web site? The link on the right of this page.
 
I have and looks good.but most jobs seem to go through agencies therefor taking any rights we have away seems pointless.glad they are talking about important things like impact drivers

I'm glad you feel the impact wrench is important, the SCCR cannot change the employment laws if you feel you can Pugwash then go ahead.

When is your mate going to answer me?
 
If this dose not go throw this time!!! As this will be the 4-time, Ya will let's keep the agencies if they are going to pay Redundancy pay, Sick pay, Pay the digs, Get rid of this (Can only take you on the books after 3-months) & it can go on & on..... Let's just stop going round the houses & why don't you try & do something about this problem, As you said this forum was set up because of the problems you had in the past, Well this is the biggest I've seen in the 24+years in the game & my Father was in it before I was hear, So I know a little something, But you only need to put question out & see if it not just me or a hand full of guys!!!!
 
i agree with ure point richie , but its a battle that cant be won , just keep workin and earnin , thats all u can do

How do you get rid of agencies then Richie? No one likes them but I can't see them going anywhere.
If you read through my posts you will see I'm no fan of agencies or umbrella companies.

I still want to know why you think we make money off either.


Perhaps you should consider applying for SCCR membership and bring up your concerns

Was just asking.so can you answer please,would the sccr help and please answer like a scaff and not a politician.in my eyes this agencies are the biggest scourge to us in years.not how long ya lanyard is or do hop ups make you a bit more tired.how about can we go to work,get 100% of what we earn,get a fair wage,be able to do something when we are wronged and abused.would the sccr be willing to head up the fight?nothing is unwinnable.so a simple yes or no will do
 
What he's asking is for everyone to see, Not you send him somewhere to get the information, I have a Q. Why if when or if you call about a job the job has gone, Is it still being advertised? & why are you not checking to see if these are bonafide jobs & not just some agencie trying to get CV's? If the job has gone take off the link, You mite get more people coming to this site looking for a job & if it's still there they may have a chance of getting it???
 
Because the agencies can collect more names that way I assume

To avoid any more confusion:
All sccr committee are working men.
We are from different parts of the country.
Our aims will benefit all scaffs.

We do not receive any payments/expences
We have no control over agencies/umbrella companies.
We welcome suggestions to boost membership.
We welcome new committee members willing to help promote.
We oppose changes to the trade,without consultation.
We are newly formed,and perhap,as working men,lack adminstritive skills/experience in some deptments.


Im no longer a working scaff, but still willing to give my time to give scaffs a say in their own industry. Needs a bit more energy from all scaffs for a better future.
 
So no say like contract managers whose company uses agencies on the commitee then?
 
If you're referring to me Pugwash. I am employed as a Branch Manager and I have used agency staff quite recently as advertising on here and the jobcentre didn't get any results.

Is that ok with you and what's your problem?
