I've received an offer of a job in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, that i will not be taking up as i'm already employed and have a few months to run yet.
The South Korean company that contacted me has asked me to put forward some suitable CV's and i've said that i'll try and help.
Some details of the position are below, but any negotiation on the terms and conditions will be direct with the company and NOT with me.
I have nothing to do with the company, other than i'm trying to help them out. I will forward the first two or three suitably qualified CV's to the company and they will contact you directly.

This is a camp based project and being South Korean, i cannot guarantee how Western it might be, so please think about this before applying.

Please note: They have indicated that the essential requirements asked for are just that, essential. If you do not have and cannot prove your history, please don't waste my and their time.

"Board and lodging???" Not a large villa with pool and maid????
.

You're right, NOT a large villa with pool and a maid.

Most likely a Portacabin of dubious age, leaky roof and Cockroaches to give you the massage that the 'maids' haven't.

Actually, in our camp we do have a pool a bar and we occasionally arrange for some of the Abu Dhabi 'maids' to visit.......and if they don't visit, we visit them !

Leaky roof not a problem unless its letting in sand?
Had a few cockroach problems when i was there but they are only babies compared to these big tropical aussie ones.
Would they be Chinese maids???

Ok Guys, i've had 12 CV's now, which i've forwarded to the company and i'm pretty certain that these will be enough to fill the post, so no more please and good luck to those who have applied.

Tell you what mate its amazing how i have never met you, couse by christ you have been around quite a few countries and it seems like i was in the same places at the same time, apart from the one you just mentioned, but you sure as hell know alot about other companies and people in the middle east, funny enough i know quite a few myself but they have never mentioned you.

Bigbadbob, it sounds as if you doubt, Jonny one eye. I worked alongside him in Libya and I can assure you, you will go a long way to find find a more experienced and well travelled guy than him.

I was not refering to Johnyoneye, my ref was to Havespannerwill travel.

Bob, i was going to say that i try to keep a low profile and i don't always work in the scaffolding side of things (that might change next year), but i think that someone who has worked with me has already put finger to keyboard in my defence.......and then i find out that it's not me you are writing about anyway, which is a relief.
Cheers

Good to hear from you again Matt and thanks for the kind words regarding my charecter that you posted earlier, much appreciated boyo.

Glad to hear that you've got something else sorted. I hope that you like Frogs legs, i'm told they taste a bit of chicken although i've never tried them myself and as for snails, i bet the Nigerian ones are big and juicy and i'm sure that the French cook will do them beautifully in Garlic sauce. Yum yum........

Things ok with me. I'm in the UAE wil a German company at the moment, but the job is in it's last 2-3 months now and i expect to end here beginning October and not sure where next. They've offered me one in Siberia and another in India, but i've turned those own for various reasons, so we'll see if they've got anything else around November/December and take it from there.

I was offered a permanent position back in Libya at the end of the summer in 2010. I accepted it, but told them that i couldn't start until January as i needed to hand over here. As a month or so went by, i changed my mind, don't know why, just something telling me to stick where i was. In November i finally told them that i wasn't going to take up the offer and i stayed here. If i had, i would have done one trip and been flown out by the SAS in February.

If you saw any of the reports of that evacuation, most of the guys interviewed were ones that we had worked with and they used the station airport as the muster point. All very exciting, but there's no bloody work there anymore and the camp has been ransacked i've heard. Very sad for those involved.

Anyway, e-mail me on my private address if you like instead of making it al public and let me know how the 'French Experience' goes.

Cheers for now, J

Hi John,

Good to here from you, glad everything going ok and all is well, I am not to sure whether this job back in Nigeria will come off or no. The agency are ******* about and i am not to happy with them. The money is not exceptional either, but what attracted me to it was 28/28. Doing this sort of work is ok, but like Libya, you never know when it is going to kick off do you. My email address has changed, it's matt.daniel@live.com now. I still get mails off of Paul, somewhere around he southern north sea at the moment i believe and all seems well with him.

Have a safe trip

Catch you later

Matt

I am currently working in Ruwais, if anyone gets the job I am happy to help them get to grips with the desert.
