Get on boys any1 no were any power stations starting and wot agencies they are. heard theres 1 in bridgewater starting soon. any help appreciated

Bout time everyone f**cked the agencies off, if the contractor cant get men off agencies, then we could all go back to earning good money.
 
there is no place for agencies on major projects,all they do is undermine the agreements and cause disharmony on jobs.
they are also pushing the self employed agenda,so that if the **** hits the fan you get the bullet with no back up.
phone the scaffolding contractors direct and get a start,as the animal said **** them off

unfortunatly luke scaffolders keep there information quite these days its not what you know its who you no the days of helping your fellow scaffolders out have gone this is whats happened to our industry but would say if your uncle antie nan grandad or cousins works any where in the station you should be okay lmfao but true!!!!
 
google the companies or stations for the numbers,its not hard bro.
in the old days before computers we used a thing called the yellow pages to look for the numbers,its not that hard to do:nuts:
 
In the old days before mobile phones every scaff had a little black book and phone calls were made after 4pm when supervisors returned to the office !

Luke where you from mate ? Find out who has the contacts local to you , more chance of getting a start as local labour ,
 
Agree Podger I prefer the old ways,I had a little black book and also a large number of mates in the game,most of my jobs when I was on the spanner were obtained by word of mouth through mates.

If you were ringing around looking for work you always spoke to the supervisor or contracts manager.He told you the rates of pay ect.and if he did not live up to them you fronted him up.

When I became a supervisor and later contracts manager any one looking for work that I did not know,was asked what firm he was at present,who he had worked for,what were his reasons for wanting to leave,A couple of phone calls to former employers or the lads he had worked for, and you had the measure of the guy.I also set on a lot of young lads fresh to the game about one in ten made it to scaffolder under the "OLD" training system that was employed at the time.(A pass rate of 10% compared to todays training of about 99%)

In the day, you built up your own reputation and standing in the game and lived or died on your own personality and experience.
