Rope access

Most Oil and Gas Service Companies have a Multi task Crews...

Disciplines like Scaffolding, Rope Access, Rigging ( to a certain degree ) and Blaster Painter...

Each of the Core Disciplines are given the opportunity to gain the minimum Certification ( Competency ) in the Disciplines out with their own Specialisim.

Crews of differing Competency levels are then formed and then confederated to interface with the Operational Task as required, each Core Discipline has the responsibility of Lead Hand during his/her Specialisim...

So yes, Rope Access can be used to erect the bones of a Scaffold Structure, however, this incorporates two Disciplines at a high level of Competency...

Thanks Garry I also work off shore this is why I ask I see so many of these rope lads doing the job what a scaffolder should be doing but no quicker and no better but still get payed a lot more I had a phone call from a women asking fore a rope accesses Scaff and the wage was a lot more

Advance with your Scaffolding Career Path and ask your Co to register your interest in rope access operations, they might put you on a level 1...

Diversify: Rigging that the next big one...

Scaffolders doing the ropes is like TURKEYS VOTING FOR CHRISTMAS
GET THE SCABSEILERS TO FECK,PAINTERS AND SAILORS USED BOSWAINS CHAIRS FOR HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF YEARS BUT WERE OUTLAWED SO HILLWALKERS COULD CLAIM TO BE TECHNICIANS
THEY ARE LAZY BAASTARDS,AND STEAL OUR GRAFT:mad:

@ Veeverscaff

I can see no logical reason to achieve rope on a dope statues, this a personal point of view...most seasoned Scaffolders that I know would not entertain becoming integrated into a Multi Task Crew, citing that Scaffold Erectors are Specialists in their own right...

Then again, any Individual has the right to gather as much Certs as they wish, however, beware that you do not dilute your Core Discipline...

Im not quite sure how costs Rope Access v Special Structure in Traditional Tube and Couplers and or System or a combination of both ???

I recon that a Scaffolding Crew could erect access quicker that R A...
All parties concerned could access the Task/Inspection...
Metal fatigue and fabric degradation may be difficult to access even by rope...
My observation of rope access is that setting up the ropes and equipment can be a lengthy exercise, by the nature of the Risk apportioned to rope ops inspections of hardware and equipment has to be methodically audited...

I think I'll stop their and get my crampons on PMSL

Do what suits you.
No one else is going to pay your bills. If you feel you can carve a niche by being both a Scaffolder and an Abseiler, why not?

Dont listen to comments here.
Offshore boys speak of solidarity, but come down manning, you watch the blades come out.

Look after number one.
