I recently phoned a course provider and they told me I was to take a 1 day COTS course before I can take my part one.
I'm in the oil and gas business with over thirty years of experience (not so much in the last ten years). I have a scaffold inspection card, IOSH managing safely and Nebosh IGC but told I still have to take the course.
Don't mind taking the course but means an extra 6 months before I receive my ticket.
Can anyone shed any light on a way round it?
Cheers

COTS course, then touch screen test, then you can apply for an trainee card(only valid for 18 months) then 6 months later you can take your part 1.......£££££££££

but with over 30 years exp, why would you want to do your part 1 now?

Finished full time approx ten years ago when they weren't so hot on the tickets..
just trying to stay employable so thought I would go for the card.
Thanks for the reply..
