Are there any scaffold design engineers here that use AutoCAD or something compatable?

Im trying to build up a collection of blocks for repeated use, like right angled couplers, band and plates, different tie details etc. Anything you think would be handy to have really. Ive obviously already got some myself anyway which I can supply to you but my collection is relatively small, so if you are in a position to provide me with anything like that chances are you've probably already got what I have anyway. But you never know!!

TBH it is rare that I go to the trouble of illustrating a detail of a 90 coupler (for example) on my designs - turn round time is a major factor & rarely is it actually needed - same goes for ties - I use a univesal tie symbol backed up with notes specifying type & maximum load - I do have an 'artistic' side & detail blocks to express it with, many of which I have created myself over the years I have been in the game - am sure I can let you have some of them - PM your email to me

Hi Chris ,
I am a newbie to site and in process of setting up autocad and we do use Layher allround so any blocks you have available would be a massive help.

i would appreciate any autocad blocks that anyone would send me, anything to do with scaffold i will have , i did autocad courses a while ago now but since had very little time to practice with it, also i learned on autocad 2007 i think then got autocad 2009 installed which is a complete change from 2007 interface so it also took time to get used to. i have a large quantity of RMD blocks if anyone interested

Hi superscaff75

I’m new to the site so not sure what’s the norm.
I have drawn a load of blocks in 3D. We carry out a lot of 3D design and so I have drawn a load of blocks. My blocks are for tube and fitting but have also done a load of beams, ladder gates etc.

scaffolding design help

Hello to all,

I have nearly finished my hnc in civil engineering. I have got my final exams over the next 2 weeks and hopefully that will be them all passed. I am an advanced scaffolder with 21 years experience working on every type of project. But I will be designing them instead of building them now after too many injuries.

Could anyone tell me if the AutoCAD smart scaffolder package is any good and what are the best programs and it would be appreciated if any could send me any tiles or blocks so that I can practice with. I got quoted £9000 for the full auto cad package is that about right.

Any replies would be great

Cheers

revision hurts my head

Hi Savva

I brought the full Smart package (Model IT, Check IT, Estimate IT). the software is very good for estimating and the design for standard basic scaffold types. Although it’s not quite right yet. They do another piece of software called Draw IT which is 2D blocks for Auto cad but you could do most of these yourself with a bit of practice and save yourself a few quid.

If you are looking to do specialist design work then I would recommend an Auto Cad package. Auto Cad do a light package for a few hundred pounds but this will not do 3D. The full package is a few grand so it depends on what you want to do.

Turbocad Design

Hi there

I have a program called Turbo Cad 16 Deluxe 2D/3D {IMSI Design} this cost me under £60 and the only thing I find Wrong with it is that I have to save my drawings to PDF files for e-mailing.

Hi Rob,

I am based in Ireland and I am currently using autocad to draw scaffolding just tube layouts but I would like to show fittings aswell, I am looking for 3d blocks for fittings in autocad for scaffolding, I have drawn some myself but they are fairly primative: 90 deg coupler, swivel coupler, base jack, acro props.

Would you be able to send me some of your 3d scaffold fitting blocks?

And if there is anything you may be looking for I may be able to help.

my email address is: andi.vincent@gmail.com

Regards

Andrew.

Hi Rob,
Would really appreciate as many blocks as you can give me as I am just starting to compile my own library in autocad.

Thanks for your time
