We have just received a letter from one of our clients stating that if we wish to be considered for any future works we need to join Achilles - is anybody a member and could anybody tell me anything about this latest accreditation we need to pay to be a member of? It sounds like this is the same a CHAS???

Achilles is like a railways supplier list - We are a member and it costs us around £10k a year. Not sure if it worth the money though

we have used achilles for linkup (railway) but they also operate UVDB which is for utilities and companies such as morrison , thames water ect want that one , they also do another qualification which is for the likes of Bovis

Achilles are a buyer/supplier introducer, they run several 'awards' such as UVDB and Verify. They operate for several sectors such as Oil, Gas, Utilities and Offshore.
We are/were part of their setup a few years ago advising on insurance related matters to their members.
If you decide to buy into their network, they produce a concise and full evaluation of your company which is available for the 'buyer' to review and choose the best contractor for the contract. It is very costly however and geared towards the larger end players.
