would like to know why do System scaffolders use tube and fitting check fittings on hangers / cants
when the System is designed to hold weight via the rosette or cup?

Also ive worked all over the world and why in Aus, they still don't understand how / why check fittings go in certain places, you tell them and they try act all smart, next thing they're putting check fittings on a basic independent ledger bracing...

Does anyone have any basic drawings checks - information i can slam all over the work canteen to drill these boys?

Ive told them don't mix tube and fitting with System, cause its a total different ball game when working with tube!

could you be more specific regarding where they are checking. Not all systems are rosette type and there could be a possibility the pin can pop out in kwikstage causing the standard to slip

Mainly layher scaffolds, for example on puncheons they are using double as top check, single as bottom check.. they just have no idea.

No one should be dropping off/puncheon off a kwikstage ledger. They’re not load bearing.

Wasnt refering to puncheon or dropping off of a kwikstage ledger mate, thats pretty obvious there not load bearing. You can still hang and cantilever with this system using the appropriate method, i was just asking what they were checking as in some cases people will check the pins

Its mainly mixing tube n fitting with layher, the adding check doubles on layher standards.

System scaffolders seem to know everything about tube and fitting these days lololol

If this is true then they must fail the vertical load requirements for guardrails and should not be used for this purpose - is that correct?

You sound like Jason Gibbs.

(And that isn't a compliment).

Who? Seems like nobody knows why though?

Why would you put a check double on a layher system standard? It would make zero difference

You need to get out more, mate.

Checks on hangers are a back up to a failure.
The only thing keeping you in the air is your support coupler, should your support coupler fail for whatever reason then you have a catastrophic failure the check is there to prevent that.
The same logic would apply to system irrespective of the system.
Your coupler is load tested as is your rosette or cup, tested to differing values but if hanging off the top of Nat West tower and a check makes you that little bit safer way not put it in.

Tube with system is not as big an issue as popular belief would suggest. Cuplok has had tube and fitting braces since day one.
Its how and where you use it that matters.
