Ha a design come done ,for a 2 lift independent 5m high and the designer has done the ledger bracing over the 2 lifts saying its ok, but ive never seen it done like that and I am sure it says somewhere you cant any views on it , I know his heads on the chopping block if it goes pete tong.

doesn't sound right to me Jase222 mainly because the 'Effective length' of the un-braced standard. Be interest to see the design and more importantly the calculations in support.

Steve's right, sounds unusual to say the least?
If the brace is picked up at the first lift (under slung ledger for instance, (assuming the transoms are on load bearing couplers)) then the effective length would be ok. If the brace the brace is not restrained at mid length then the lift height is all wrong.
Not sure how you square the scaffold up if you brace over two lifts?

Taking out the effective length of the brace itself, it sounds like it's going to be at quiet a steep angle so maybe not as useful as your designer thinks. Are both lifts tied or is it just tied at the one level?
