Over loaded system scaffold standard & Hi!! (1 Viewer)

What ever happened to doing it in tube with a spur and a puncheon ,
This games getting very serious these days :worried:

I haven't used a vertical ladder beam to support a horizontal beam but as TG6 says, I think, in the case where the horizontal beam is connected to the chords of the vertical beam, the inner chord of the vertical beam (closest to the span of the horizontal beam) would take most if not all of the vertical load from the beam.
In the case where the horizontal beam is connected to the rungs of the vertical beam......it could be argued that the rung transfers load to both vertical chords I guess but the welds have to transfer the load.

extend the beams further through the horizontal length of the scaffold where possible.

Extending the beam further through the scaffold does not change what is happening but it may alter the forces, The inside standard of you support will still take an increased load and the end of the beam will still tend to lift.

I beg to differ with the ladder beam standard but I'm just a scaffolder
