I know the gross weight of a transit pick up is 3.5 ton and I think it weights 1750kg when empty therefore u would think it can carry 1.75 ton on the back however a mate of mine reckons he got pulled by vosa and they told him it can only carry 700kg on the back.
Does anybody know if this is right And back it up with some evidence.?

Yes I agree with the 700kgs
You need to allow for 2-3 people in the pick up with everything else
The Belts, steps, harnesses and all the paperwork for the job.
If your like us you need to allow 10kgs for the rams👍

Quite rite too.
To be on the safe side we'll go with 500kg

Just remember thats the all up weight which includes men , tools ,fuel & materials so tbh if you think you can carry 1.5 ton than you'll b lucky lol

Transits used to be able to carry 35 cwt which is 1.3/4 Imperial ton,
But like the lads are saying you gotta allow for everything on and in that motor
Plus the old bill just love to pull them as 9 times out of 10 they will be over loaded

I Have Had More Pulls Than A Porn Stars Knob In My Transit Pick Up, I Got Pulled By The Boys In Blue One Sunday Morning In An Eight Tonner When The Breathilyser Was Clear He Was Absolutely Furious And Was All For Doing Me For Being 100 Kilos Overweight, The Copper Was Raging Angry When My Mate Told Him I Was A Teatotaller,

When vosa pull you over they weigh the van for total gross weight including load and passengers and if you have x3 men in the cab maximus this doesn't leave a lot for payload my advise is make sure your total payload is including the passengers hope your still busy my good man

we are ticking along nicely SSC,
some of the fat fookers i have worked with would overload a pick up if they got in 3 handed hahahaha

There's not much point in a 3.5 ton for what you get on it

they are a waste of time Derry ,
only thing they are any good for is transporting lads or a couple of lads doing a small tower type thing

Most firms start with half backs, ideal for tight drives. My old boss sent 2 men to a job 100 miles away in a 18 tonner. Got there and the turning in to the road was to tight to get the lorry in. Had to hire a trannie and went back the following week with both vehicles and got the job done.

Yh 20 long for hand rail and ledgers and 16 16ft 50 5ft 10 8ft 24 13ft boards all 3.4mm tube

your tube alone ways almost 1.5 tonne plus your fittings plus your ladders plus short boards plus men plus fuel plus your rack , your still well over mate
