Alright guys part 1 scaff here just wanting to know how far you can shoot a beam out before having to pick it up and is it the same for when you come of a steel structure beam with grav lock. Cheers.

used to be a third of the length with ladder beams but that was when Scaffs were allowed to think for themselves.
As already stated go with the engineers drawing;)
 
It depends on the type of beam, load on the beam, lever arm and how the beam is supported. All cantilevered beam scaffolds require a design as stated above.
 
Depends on what sort of beam what's going on top of it,etc but as someone said above it used to be one third of the beam and at the end of the day if its street work its what you think and feel is doing the job,wait for the comments saying your a pt1 shouldn't even be doing that,but I say fair play hands on experience is the only way to learn
 
totally agree with the lads ,
its nice to see a young fella trying to learn his game ,
its what makes for a good scaffolder and what this forum is for ;)
