Hello guys I need some assistance as I am being asked by our contractors to allow the use of rope access scaffolders onto our project.
My question is how much training / experience is required in order for a person to be classified as rope access qualified.
Is there a period of being classified as a trainee or is it just a few days training and being given a ticket..
I know that these lads have only been given a few days training at best so I am reluctant to permit their use on site and I have no experience with dopes on ropes....
Any advise will be great and help is finding the right answer...

Sure it takes something like 1000 hours before you can tie your own knots!

No rope access work can commence unless a level 3 irata trained person is present. All knots must be secured by level 3 and all in the party must be trained in rope access rescues. So may be quicker just getting trained scaffs in. I did my irata level one and could do nowt with it unless a level 3 was present, total waste of time.
