Im 56, been in the industry for 35 years mainly on the tools. ive also been a supervisor, contracts manager and surveyor.
ive now had to retrained due to arthritis in my shoulders, cant think how i got that lol. Im now a H&S inspector specialising in the scaffolding side.
Ah, i hear you say, the F******* enemy.
Thats what i would have said years ago. Not the case though. I like to think im every scaffolders friend and heres why.
1. I dont work for the HSE
2. i inspect through experience not from what ive read from a book.
3. with my experiance i know the rules and use common sense when inspecting, unlike most other inspectors.
4. i recommend and advise. i do not point fingers and slag people off.
