do you need A+ rated or is it just for street jobs

Can anyone with their own company recommend a decent ( meaning they give a sh*t) insurance company to cover Public liability and Employers liability up to 10 million ?
The company we use has been ok but I'd like to be able to ring up and speak to someone occasionally or have a face to match the payments with !
Price isn't the critical factor , but a decent level of cover is I'm fed up with "but you work over 10m" or the ever popular " its a very risky job"
Any help /advice appreciated especially by people who may of had to claim, and their experience.
I'd Rather have a bottle in front of me , than a frontal labotomy !

The insurance game is a barrel of laughs
I have been told that the insurers set a limit on themselves for the amount of exposure they can afford, once they have sold this, they can then put up prices for anyone else, so it’s good to get in at an early stage, the problem is no one but the insurer knows when the early starts or finishes!
We have used 3 different brokers recently
Contact | Towergate Risk Solutions
they insured us thru another party to be covered ultimately by Aviva and the costs were bearable, but the claim experience here is not good
Construction & Manufacturing Insurance Specialists | M&DH Insurance Services Limited
great brokerage but the available markets offered them higher premiums, claims usual standard
They best insurers we found were Quinn’s, unfortunately their directors fecked off with the money and they have since withdrawn from the EL/PL markets, But the claims experience was the best by a country mile.

We use a broker called Green Insurance Group these days - have been using them for 5/6 years now and they're always done a good job for us, and arrange our liability, fleet and PI insurances. It would be worth giving Ian Gosling a call on 01892 603500 and have the discussion with him about your requirements.

Hi Russ,
You could try giving Trade Direct Insurance a call as well. Seem like a solid company and I think they do cover scaffs now (although you'd have to check).
Having said that, and not to upset other sponsors, there's a couple of links over on the sidebar but I have no idea what they are like and it's a pity they don't participate actively... #justsaying
Rang Green Insurance Group and the man was very rude. Wouldn't be able to give me a quote without my current insurers quote also couldn't get back to me within a day. They will not be getting my business.
We've used a company called PJP (01189 792 121) richard sison has delt with us for over 10years now always informative, helpfull & curteous the policy is underwritten by INK
hope that helps
I look after a number of Scaffold companies, the broker drives the price so what you get back is often dependent on experience and as you said, actually caring.
