NASC launch facebook page

The NASC has created a brand new Facebook page to compliment its growing social media presence - as part of a wider PR & Marketing strategy, aimed at raising the profile of the organisation and disseminating useful member and industry information through traditional and modern media platforms.

The new page - www.facebook.com/NASCscaffolding is a social media extension of the already news release section of the NASC website and also compliments the NASC's presence on the popular, 140 character microblogging service, Twitter, where we already have 1,100 'followers' under 'tag' @ NASCscaffolding.

The decision to launch a Facebook page was made to boost the NASC's expanding internet and social media profile, to back up the conventional news and member information service already offered online and to deliver a highly visual, interactive forum to allow members and potential members to engage with the organisation using this popular format - increasingly being used for business.

The NASC Facebook page will be updated regularly (like the Twitter feed), with NASC and industry news, details of new and revised guidance for best practice in the scaffolding and access world, videos from our existing You Tube channel, along with opinion comments and anecdotal industry sound bites. The new page will also feature amazing professional industry imagery - from award-winning photographer, Richard Seymour, who is about to embark on a huge industry photography commission for the NASC - alongside interesting pictures and video from NASC staff. The aim is also to get members and those who engage with the NASC on Facebook to share their news, images, opinions and videos with the organisation, creating an active online community centred around the role of the NASC in the scaffolding and access industries.

NASC Managing Director, Robin James said "We're very excited about the launch of our new Facebook page - particularly with the all-important TG20:13 about to be launched. And we hope members and interested parties in the scaffolding and access industry come and visit and 'Like' the page and engage with us via this social media platform.

"The use of social media sites is becoming increasingly important for businesses and organisations like the NASC - particularly as use and engagement increases, thanks to the development and uptake of new technology like tablets and smart phones. What started as a social networking world for individuals is now an important, essential business tool and we are pleased to be developing our presence on sites like Facebook, Twitter and You Tube as part of a wider social media strategy by the NASC.

"The social media sites will not replace, but complement the existing, wider PR & Marketing strategy. So, for those who still prefer their news, guidance and everything else the NASC offers in traditional printed form, that service will still continue. These modern methods are to add depth to our communication action plan.

"We have learned that Facebook is used by one billion users worldwide and 22 million people log-on daily (including 69% of the UK), with users engaging on Facebook for an average 6.26 hours a month. With statistics like this, we know Facebook is a vital, growing media outlet for us to use to get our brand message, news and information out quickly, clearly and in an engaging manner to our target audience."

Oh I don't know, some Saturday night comments could be good.

Wish the would do an app for their hand over.:(

Any chance they will listen to the majority of the Scaffolders now and put that ScaffStep death-trap in the bin where it belongs??

Seeing as they are trying to get intouch with the 'people'??

It's a real pity when big corporations have social media but don't make as best use of it - for whatever reason.

The NASC facebook page is not open to comment unless you add what you want to say to a conversation already open - making what you have to say a bit random, in most cases.

If you want to be in touch with your clients/ customers/ members, you have to have an open facebook page, even if that attracts comments you may not want.

Accessability is the whole point of big companies having social media accounts.

I noticed the NASC have upped their twitter postings too... I even got a reply to a comment I asked them :)!
