Excaliburs no good for brick work on most occasions.

You need to tie in the mortar joint with most bricks or the brick will shatter.

Test ties as per TG4:11 and see what happens.

Good luck.

G-Scaff Have You Tried The Appollo Ties, Basically Just A Big Rawl Plug ,But By Heck They Work

They are excellent Gerscaff we are changing over to them for all ties, i thought you couldnt use the Hilti type drop in anchors in brick work anymore ?

job needs to be up tomorrow, no time to source diff types of ties/plugs. fingers crossed thanks for the advice

try drilling slowly in the bed and wrapping duck tape around the anchor , trouble usually is the hole gets to big to set the anchor and the tape just packs it out a bit also dont drill it to deep as you start setting it it will go in if the brickwork is that soft

told on the course today that drop in anchors a no no in brickwork .....
but it should to manu specs if that possible to find out quickly

[but it should to manu specs if that possible to find out quickly] sorry what does that mean ??

manufactures spesification google the type of ties you have ie hilti tie manufactures specification and it should come up marra

Nylon inserts all day long as the boy's have suggested. The job had to go up in the morning is a poor excuse for not getting the right ties, is there not someone local to you who would let you borrow some till you get your own?

apollo nylons all day, get some asap,
try excalburs in the bed/pert but test every one and use 2 holed band and plate if possible.

Spoke with a designer last night jakdan that reckoned the 2 hole actually weakened a fixing due to the close proximity of the drill holes.

Hi g-scaff. For a short notice, wanna try screwfix, they got the nylon wall plugs,a pack of 25 & the threaded rings,a pack of 5,about 20 quid each, but usually got 'em in the store. If you need them in a hurry, they can be got there. Usually go in the beds, very quick & easy to use, alot better than hilti drop-in's.
