If you are reading this, then you are probably a scaffolding company who promotes yourself online. Most people look online now when they are getting work done, looking for new contractors, or looking for suppliers.

So how can you make the most out of these internet users?

1. Get a website!
This goes without saying. Once you have a website you can advertise this offline (eg on leaflets, your van, banners on your scaffolding) and online. You can start without a website by using Yell and Google Places, but the best way is to have a website that people can go to, you can show your company logo, examples of your work, your past clients, etc.

2. Promote Yourself Online
This is the main thing that will get you in front of your new customers, and more importantly will get you more work. How do you do this? There are lots, and lots of ways to promote yourself online, but here's a few of them.

One way is to use a forum like this Scaffolders Forum. So if you're on here, you're doing something right! This is a great resource for Scaffolding companies to communicate, and a good way to promote yourself.

You may have a website, but do you have any links to it? If any of your friends has a website, you can ask them to link to your website.

There are plenty of websites where you can do this, like Yell and Gumtree. Scaffolding Local is a website we have created which is dedicated to help promote scaffolding companies - Scaffolding Local. Try it out, its free to have a link to your website.

There are lots of other ways to get the most out of the internet for your Scaffolding company. If you need any advise, please just ask away on here.

If you have made a local search for your Scaffolding website on Google lately (eg Scaffolding in Bristol), you will have noticed that the majority of the search results on the 1st page are given to companies who have registered for Google Places.

Google Places results show up with a red pin next to them indicating the location on a map. So if you want to show up on the 1st page, this is one of the ways you can do it.

The good thing is that as Google only shows local companies on the map, you are not competing with the likes of Yell and other large directory websites that often dominate the 1st pages.

So register today!
