The System is an improved version of the Safespan---It has only been used twice in the UK---I was invited down to the White Cart Viaduct to view and access the System in situ...

It may not be Scaffolding as we know it, however, can the Scaffolders allow the installation of this Access System fall into the hands of the Riggers ???.

The System works in collaboration with both Traditional and System scaffold Systems.

Where the self weight of Traditional Scaffold is prohibitive the Bridge Platform System is a welcome alternative.

Yip turners have the safespan sewed up in europe so with them being well in with nasc it will no doubt be plied as the best of its type by the monopoly that seems to deem itsself the scaffolding watchdog.
The system that garry is involved with is as he says a better system and yer man has done some really good work on it with the manufacturers as regards introducing it to the uk market

Hi Paddy M8

Ye , Turner are the Agents for Safespan, however, the innovator of Safespan has modified and improved the System and has launched the new hardware with Bridge Platforms---the two Companies are based in Buffalo NY.

Was Santa good to you Paddy M8 ???

nae si daftscaff---being no stranger to the improved Bridge Platform System, do you think there is a Place for the System ???---Iv been looking at Offshore Applications i.e, decom of Installations...

garry...

If theres a place for system cards with jobs that exclude real scaffolders because they dont have said cards then of course there would and will be a place for it but make sure that scaffs get the job before scabseillors and any other jumped up labourer claims it for themselves

Cheers Gar mate, yep Santa was good to me again, but all for the better of watching the 'Wee bairns' opening their prezzies'. I wouldna mind having a wee read of your Summary profile mate.

All the best from the Carr household to the Adams clan.;)

Daftscaff

Your bang on the money there---we cannot afford to let any more Access Solutions to slip through our fingers---however, it is up to the Scaffolding and Special Access Service Companies to take ownership of the System before the said imposters...

Fit did yi get fae Santa ???

Used a simalar system on the M5 bridge between Portishead and Avonmouth for Kaverner back in 2004/2005 . It was the longest hanging scaffold in Europe at the time , from memory it was approx 2 kilometers in length but was done in stages , it was InterservreBristol branch that had the main contract and my old mate Mick Bone was the man over seeing the project and a guy called Vince Pearce that sourced the system .

Paddy M8

I have sent the Summary Profile together with some further Technical Data that I received from the President of Bridge Platforms...

Thanks for the information, in my view the Scaffolding and Specialist Access Service Companies should be Embracing, Promoting and Developing Access Techniques.

Suffice to say that Wire Rope and or Fiber Suspended Access and Temporary Working Platforms are historically part of a Scaffolders Work Scope, therefore, being one stranger to this type of work we should welcome it home ???.

Thanks for the reply---I believe Safway is a well established Company in Canada---I shall research the Company and see what type of System they use---I have informally introduced the Bridge Platforms System to both the UK and UAE Oil and Gas Communities and was met with great interest, especially the Self Weight of the System coming in at 2 Lbs per Sq Ft...

Garry is that the same one you sent me via email? Looked pukka looked remarkably sturdy even for a man of my weight lol

@ Bobby…Safespan is the original System…the innovator is a Guy called Toli who designed the concept…

The article has not itemised which component part ( s ) has been infringed by Bridgeplatforms ???

Have their own system called RUSH, the did the under deck of the Ocean Princess a couple of years ago, installed by rope access techs

@ Bobby

An important amendment to my recent post…

Although Toli has been associated with the Safespan System the concept must be attributed to Lambros Apostolopous, apologies for any miss-information…

Although I have no vested interest in Safespan, I promote it every chance that I can, it is unfortunate that the up-take in the UK as been very short sighted…I have viewed Safespan ( White Cart Viaduct, Glasgow ). Gary Gallagher ex Director of Turner + 8 invited me to view Safespan some years ago and I am surprised that the wire rope and steel decking System has not generated sufficient interest in the UK, I think the UK Access Service Companies are missing a trick with this one…

Oil and Gas: Decommissioning: One particular attribute that is generating interest is the self weight of Safespan V Traditional Scaffold Tube and Coupler, where sever oxidisation has occurred to Steel Superstructure concerns have been raised whether the Steel Work has the integrity to hang a Traditional Tube and Coupler Scaffold Structure from it...

Congrats on 1000 thanks Garry thanks for that gal slightly over my head but do remember what you sent me looked the bollox

@ Bobby…my 1000 th eh, never noticed, however, Im glad it was you…
