    To be honest, I don't bother using it as a spy in the cab although you are supposed to. The miss use of mode key switch can be a potential problem as every case of it can result in a fine and when you consider 5 years of cards sitting in the office VOSA could have a field day.

    There are a few different ways to handle these things and we have found we are not as guilty of such mistakes now we have an automatic tacho which moves from rest to drive on it's own but you still have to remember to switch from work to rest at least once a day depending on the length of your day. Go online and order a copy of instruction manuals for drivers, they are only a few quid from the FTA, study them and keep them for reference at a later date as the rules VOSA have are almost as bad as our own trade.
