A Niagara Falls man who suffered severe injuries three years ago when scaffolding collapsed during the construction of a wing of Niagara Street Elementary School in Niagara Falls has accepted a $1.75 million insurance settlement, his Buffalo lawyer said Friday.

Timothy Carson, 44, suffered severe neck and shoulder injuries that required cervical spine surgery and arthroscopic surgery on his shoulder when he fell to a concrete floor on March 28, 2007.

Carriers for Hubert Construction, the Depew drywall contractor that employed Carson, will pay the cash settlement. The case had been scheduled to go to trial in April.
