City are appealing for volunteers to help clear snow from the Valley Parade stands and walkways.

The club want supporters with shovels and snow blades to report to facilities manager David Dowse at 9.30am on Thursday.

Director Roger Owen has also made an appeal to any Bradford-based scaffold firms for assistance and is looking for the loan of eight hot-air blowers.

Owen says the layer of snow currently over the covers has helped the condition of the pitch.

“As things stand, we don’t intend moving snow off the playing surface until temperatures lift on Thursday,” he said.

“The forecast is for two days of better weather, which is when our big push will come.

“As far as the pitch and terraces are concerned, we will be pushing snow to the two long sides and I am looking to build four poly tunnels to cover it and then blow hot air in from each end.

“Last season we had a problem when additional snowfall left us running dump trucks on the side of the pitch.

“Given the work we did during the summer, we don’t want any damage if we can help it.”

Owen can be contacted on 07973-805055 and Dowse on 07949-584323 or 01274-773355.
