Part of roof blows off Bootle building

STORMY weather caused part of a roof to blow off a building in Bootle.
Scaffolding and wooden beams flew from the five-storey building being constructed on Oriel Road opposite Bootle Town Hall.
Trinity Road and Oriel Road were both blocked at around 2am on Friday November 12, and they were reopened at 11am. Today, a mum-of-four said she was left terrified by the incident and feared something would go through her windows.
Kirsty Munro, 26, said: “I called the police at 1.30am. I was terrified. It got to the point when I thought that something was going to go through the window because the wind was that bad.
“I took the baby’s cot away from the window. The bang was very loud. We were awake all night.”
A Merseyside police spokesman said: “There was a large portion of the roof that came off along with scaffolding. Three huge sections of the roof had landed across the road. The scaffolding was swaying.”
A Sefton council spokesman said: “The contractor dealt with the situation and it was made safe.”
