A bus driver and a passenger were taken to hospital after the single-decker vehicle hit scaffolding in Coventry.

The driver in his 40s and a 19-year-old woman were hurt on Tuesday morning, but the area in Far Gosford Street was made safe.

National Express Coventry said a vehicle on the 10 service was involved, ambulance and police had attended and it was supporting investigations.

The driver had minor injuries and the woman sustained an arm injury.

The ambulance service, which was called at about 0930 GMT, added that they were treated at the scene and taken to University Hospital in Coventry.

The fire service said scaffolding contractors and the city council had attended the site, an area was cordoned off and a recovery vehicle had gone to the scene.

Two fire engines, from Coventry and Binley fire stations, were sent.
