Two construction workers were injured and rushed to the hospital last Tuesday afternoon after a section of scaffolding collapsed on them at a work site. The scaffolding accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. at a construction site on the grounds of the Cleveland County Jail, according to news reports.

New reports detail that the two victims in this scaffolding accident were reportedly working on scaffolding inside the building when the supporting cinder blocks began to suddenly collapse. As a result of the failing support blocks, both men plummeted between 12 to 18 feet to the ground. When emergency crews arrived at the construction site, several co-workers had attempted to pull the men from the twisted scaffolding.

Following the accident, both workers were rushed to Norman Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries. Officials reported that one worker complained of a back injury and the other worker had multiple leg fractures and contusions as a result of the scaffolding accident. "The workers were identified as men in their 40s, who work for Sun Valley Masonry, based in Phoenix, Ariz."

A full investigation of this construction accident is currently underway. For some reasons, officials at the construction site expressed that the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was not required to be notified for this accident. Personnel from the Timberlake Construction and Sun Valley Masonry safety teams were expected to inspect the site last week following the accident.
