I would like to contact, discuss & debate with scaffold forum members who have recently applied to become a member of the NASC and have had their membership applications refused or rejected. I would like to evaluate the main basis for refusal & or rejection & the criteria the NASC have given to each applicant for the refusal & or rejection to establish if their is a trend.

I have been reliably informed "off the record" that out of the last 200 NASC applications only 18 applications have been accepted which appears to be a very low application acceptance rate of 9% & a high failure rate of 92%. I must stress that these numbers are not substantiated, but on 2 occassions these numbers have been mentioned.

It would also be interesting to establish if there is a trend towards geographical location in the acceptance or rejection process.

Lets hear your experiences & views.

this should be interesting.

From what i was lead to believe the black ball white ball method had gone out the window , we applied several years ago and only got rejected on the paperwork audit being incomplete and to be fair Jamie Mc Guire did persist with us to get it sorted but never got round to it

I was under the illusion they are looking to recruit more bonafide members but its plain that only companies that meet the set criteria will get through the first process

Never got round to reapplying ..............................................

Ha that scaffold pic I an absolute "disgrace" please do not tell me that it was erected by a former NASC member what a joke.

perhaps they had a robbery in the night and stole the tubes.least they left a board on the ladder.lol

wud be easier nd quicker 2 list wot is right in the pic,coz 2 list wot's wrong wud take an age.if ur lookin 2 join the nasc,u make sure the jobs are spot on nd if they find 1 ov these jobs on ur books,u only have ur-self 2 blame.

All I will say on the matter is when I started my own scaffold contractors ( labour only) I looked at joining my Industry body. I am Advanced & I have another Advanced & had two part two scaffolders at the start. Sent an e-mail to the NASC to become an associate member & was told that I did not qualifiy!!

So they are now preventing me from working on Keirs sites Carillion etc!!!

Why?
