Glasgow-based scaffolding firm the JR Group has celebrated a successful 15 years of trading with the launch of new premises in Paisley.

Ex St Mirren duo Gus MacPherson and Andy Millen officially opened the company’s new HQ, watched by more than 100 guests who gathered to toast the firm’s move from Govan to the larger Paisley premises.
The relocation to Cardea House – named after the Greek goddess that represented craftsmen and the home – is the culmination of rapid expansion for the JR Group.

Set up 15 years ago, the family-run company has grown into four separate divisions – the original scaffolding sector, construction, maintenance and decorating, while staff numbers have risen from just three to more than 50.
And it was no coincidence that the opening of the new base coincided with the start of the World Cup in South Africa. Managing director John Horne played football professional in his younger days and his two sons are both signed to local teams.

Speaking at the opening, Mr Horne said: “During what is probably the deepest recession the UK has seen, the JR Group has bucked the trend by identifying and seizing the growth opportunities clients were presenting to it.

“The ‘one-stop shop’ approach for construction projects offered by the JR Group has brought about increased efficiency and reduced costs for the individual parts of the business and, more importantly, the clients.
“I’m delighted to see so many friends and clients celebrating our success with us.”

The football theme continued after the formal proceedings, with guests enjoying drinks while watch the World Cup on giant TV screens.
Scotland’s equivalent of the World Cup – the Clydesdale Bank SPL Premier League trophy – was present, and a Soccer AM-style ‘Hole of Glory’ was set up for guests to test their striking skills to raise money for a local school appeal.
