With all due respect to Ragscaff, for his survey, and SF admin, for the administration of the survey, there seems a problem in being able to actually complete and submit this survey.

I have noticed there has been numerous views to the thread, and yet no respondents.

I have tried several methods to complete the survey, Highlight, as stated, copy and paste, multi quote, quote, all to no avail.

Sincerely
Paddy

Paddy

I have sent the questionnaire in a word format. It was all in boxes etc. I will ask Adimin if it can be added as a link then pasted & posted. Due to the time scale being tight I will ask for the meeting to be on the 26th May. As yet it is just me & admin attending with no suggested venues!!

This is very important to our industry & livelihoods

Ragscaff
:sad2:

Stewart, mate

I was originally commited up to the 27th may, now i am free from the 22nd,albeit, i will have to take a day off work.

I realise this could be a turnining point within the scaffolding community, and could be a monumentus achievement, regarding the consultation rights, of worker involvement, so advertised within the HSE agenda.

Right Lads, this is your chance, instead of whispering up your sleeves, or whingeing over a pint, nail your colours to the mast, and support the committee for consultation rights.

A Venue, proposed, would be appreciated, as a HSE meeting in a phonebox, with all interested parties, representing over 1,050 scaffolders, isnt the way forward in my view.

We are Scaffs same as you's support us, and let us know what we can do.

Paddy

Hi All

I can now see the problem.

I have realised that it is not possible to use the quote function, as you are simply adding to the quote rather than writing a new post.

Therefore you need to

1. Copy the questions (CTRL+C) or right click and then copy
2. Paste the questions into a new post (CTRL+V) or right click and then paste
3. Fill in the questions in that post
4. Submit the post.

I have also attached the original word document, which can be found at the bottom of the first post

Sorry for the previous problems.

Regards

(ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU'VE BEEN PULLING YOUR PUDDINGS OUT) AN EXTRA 10MINS BY LAW WOULD BE NICE, AND YES, I HAVE HAD TO WORK TO THIS RULE OFTEN ENOUGH.

Hard hats supplied to scaffolders should be "fit for purpose" ie peak less with a ratchet adjuster or chin strap to prevent nodding off.

Footnote: I do appreciate NASC have a role to play however there latest claim that the represent OVER 75% of our industry is total fantasy .

ITS TOO EASY TO GAIN YOUR PART 2 & ADVANCED CARDS, IT TOOK ME OVER 10 YEARS FOR MY ADVANCED, I THINK 10 YEARS CHECKABLE SCAFFOLDING EXPERIENCE IS THE MINIMUM.

4. Would You Like To See Full Apprenticeship Brought In? YES

5. What Would You Change In Regards To CISRS?
SEEMS NOW BEING AN ADVANCED CARD HOLDER IS NOT ENOUGH, NOW YOU NEED ALL THE SYSTEM STUFF ON YOUR CARD, I HAVE WORKED WITH MOST SYSTEM SCAFFOLDING IN MY TIME, I THINK THAT YOU SHOULD BE ASSESED ON YOUR PART 2 FOR SYSTEM.

I THINK AN ALTERNATIVE TO LIGHT EYE PROTECTION FOR SCAFFOLDERS NEEDS TO BE FOUND, THEY FOG UP TOO EASILY, TWIN TAIL HARNESSES ARE TOO CUMBERSOME & HEAVY, ON A 10 HOUR DAY OR LONGER A STATUTORY BREAK IN THE AFTERNOON NEEDS TO BE INTRODUCED.

Re-introduce the Assessed route of entry, Change the final assessment of the part 2 to more than just one erect/dismantle as it shows too little of the candidate's abilities. The system qualifications are next to useless as there are far too many proprietary systems out there for anyone to ever be ualified in all of them so should be removed and perhaps companies responsible for training/competency in their own system

If you were able to suggest any improvements in your working day to the HSE what would you say?
That inspector’s who carry out inspections on scaffolding should be from a scaffolding back round.
As we all know that falls from height are regarded as the main type of accident in construction industry and that once a scaffold it put up on a site it becomes a flag for inspection but other trades and areas of work is overlooked.

Also a scaffold being a temporary structure the inspections carried out on staging/events is a temporary structure well I think same rules should apply, I work on some of the staging last summer and it was back to runners and t-shirts with agency labour erecting/dismantle system scaffold with claw hammers and vice grips??
