Hey mate, great to hear this news. I am a journeyman scaffolder out of the oil sands in western Canada. Not sure how my certs will hold over there but have been told its not much to get up to par if I can actually do what I say I can.

Where is it your working mate, and what are the hours like? Is it FIFO with camp provided? And most importantly, what type of money do you clear per turnaround? I have a 417 Visa which is a working Holiday Maker visa and its good for a year from the date I enter, will that suffice you recon? Any and all information is appreciated mate. thanks!

The only offshore experience I have is offshore commercial fishing. I know that has nothing to do with scaffolding offshore but I am indeed versed in being out out sea for extended periods. If its certifications/certificates needed, shouldn't the company be able to put me through the training? I'd be on a plane tomorrow if I knew fer certain that I could work there. How long is the job good for? I am extremely interested mate... Contacts? As I have said I have my visa (sub-class 417) already in place.... Hook me up!

WOW! My offshore experience is in the form of a commercial fisherman mate, did so for about 10 years. Never scaffolded offshore, but would love to give it a shot. If you combine the fact that I worked offshore for 10+ years fishing, with working in the oil and gas plants of the oil sands in Alberta then I think I could be a good candidate. Not sure about the certs required but surely shouldn't the company (in this case CAPE) put us through. I am willing to do what ever certs necessicary

And yea mate, I would be on a flight tomo to Oz if I could secure a position out there. Thats some good money. How long is the job good for then? And are you paid any retainer on your days off?

Hopefully Cape are looking to employ experienced scaffolders for these sought after positions.
Maybe you should contact the website to find out exact details about the job I was only passing on my knowledge.
In fact as you have more experience as a commercial fisherman why dont you apply for a job as a Cape Operations Director or Senior manager as they dont need any scaffolding experience!!!

;)... been scaffolding for 5+ years too mate. Figured that would be common place on a "scaffolders" forum! And thanks for the advice, stay in the loop and if ya need a job next month holla at me. I'll chat with the guys at the board meeting and have you on in no time!

i have 17yrs offshore with salamis so i do have the experience for offshore in aussie land anyone help piont in right direct

can't point you in right direct mate, but would like to know what scaffolders make in Oz offshore these days if ya dont mind takin a min to tell me... thanks

i"ve just converted $1500 to stirling its £1020 pounds a day, noway is a scaffolder on that out there dont think so,thats 7k week no way,i would have to see it tobe true.

I am not sure if CAPE are paying that much but some companies are.

There are scaffs working onshore here on 50 pound an hour.

But guys its hard to get a job offshore in the UK so why would you think it would be any easier in a foreign country? I know at least 30 experienced scaffs who were on my project who are waiting to get offshore.

The best thing would be get over here and then apply. It can be quite difficult to get a start when your 1000s of miles away.
