Police are investigating a fraud which has led to the theft of scaffolding poles.

An order for an aluminium scaffolding tower was placed over the telephone with a company called Jewsons in London Road, Westcliff earlier this year. The poles were delivered to an address in Somerset Gardens, Westcliff, as arranged between 3.30 and 3.45pm on February 4th, where the delivery was signed for by two waiting men.

It was later discovered that the order had been placed fraudulently and the scaffolding tower, worth an estimated £1150, has been stolen. Some of the poles on the tower had Jewsons stickers on them.

The men who signed for the tower were both described as being white and in their 30s, wearing work clothing.

Anyone with information on what happened to this scaffolding tower is asked to contact investigating officer Pc Penny Copeland at Leigh police station on 0300 3334444.
