After the response we got from our last news thread posted on here I thought I would share our latest editorial as well.
BS 5975:2008 covers all temporary works, that includes scaffolding. If you ask main contractors, most would say that all temporary works should be carried out in accordance with it, however, due to the 'excitement' *cough* surrounding TG20:08 the requirements of 5975 generally go un-noticed.
Design checking is most common for Network Rail Form C (soon to be Form 3) and London Underground CDS, but few people know what you are supposed to do when it comes to scaffolding.. it's a little known fact that all scaffolds should be checked if you are working with (or the client stipulates) BS 5975.
In our post we have tried to give some information that relates to scaffolding and scaffold designs in particular as most of the information is vague or related to falsework & formwork.
