Hi All

Just saw this on BBC website, but cannot now access the page for some reason, but downloaded photos, not that they show a lot. Hope they work as not tried attachments before

Not a lot of information on the site though only that it has shut of some of the roads.

Occurred on Easter Monday, but did not mention any injuries fortunately.

Shame gives us all a bad name.

Chris

Looks like the usual suspect of tie interference to me.

Swindon Collapse

Looks like the same old storey. With an over eager demolition crew taking too much building away without a thought for how the scaffold will stay there.

Some lads I work with once put up a scaffold for a demolition company in Birmingham. Which consisted of a scaffold round the main building one elevation of which included a saddle off a lower roof. The muppets doing the demolition couldn't wait for somebody to turn up to strip the scaffold and so demolished the lower building from under the saddle. When the lads turned up to strip the scaffold they didn't know where the f*!k to start. The demolition crew couldn't understand what all the fuss was about f*!k*!g muppets!!!

Lucky the lamp post was there otherwise could have been a lot worse.

It is always tricky with the demo jobs to get the sequence between providing the protection from the falling debris, and removing the scaffold as the building is being struck.

Thanks for the post from the newspaper.:wondering:

May not have been scaffold but unstable building

Hi All

The BBC have updated the news on the site in Swindon.

Extract below

"He said containment scaffolding, which held some of the debris back when part of the building collapsed unexpectedly, had been damaged in the incident.

The distorted containment scaffolding, which came to rest against a lamppost, had been removed, he added.

He said: "Obviously we're investigating and what led to that unexpected fall and our team are on site doing that today and have been overnight. "

Looks like might have been the building that fell and the scaffold took the impact.
