Is this job still valid?
Only enquiring because Roger Nutkins asked me about it.

Only been advertised for 4 years... still a good chance the position is vacant.

BOSIET? Hmm... lets just say, it was necessary.
Facitilies and Trainer was excellent.
Being dunked repeated underwater, struggling to breath, while not being able to see... not so much.

Bit of both.
We had very basic training on:

Helicopter Survival.
Sea Survival.
CPR.
First Aid.
Fire Combat.
Smoke Safety Equipment.
Lifeboats.

And classroom stuff on how Oil and Gas is processed, emergency procedues, types of rigs, barges, etc.

Course was excellent.
Facilities absolutely spotless.
Instructers were a good laugh.
Informative.

But... while i did all that was asked, id not volunteer to do the Helicopter Ditch/Rollover again.

Definitely worth having a go.
Offshore Survival opens so many more doors too.

I enjoy the helicopter roll over its fun can understand why its not for everyone.

Where did you do it? did you do the 3 day or 5 day.

You done your mist now that is a pure money spinner

Not yet mate.
I start that tomorrow, 2 days (5 day overal course)... then thats me back home to the wife & kids. :)

Should be going Offshore in 2/3 weeks.
Fingers crossed.

Was gonna do the Norwegian one too, but was told its not really worth it.

Prepare yourself to be bored for the mist mate its a horrid course but an extra ticket that opens doors.

Yes not much point doing 5 day but allways handy to get your norwegian medical while your getting your ukooa medical mate only about 50 quid extra.

Loads of work in the north sea right now.

I remember applying for this job only to be told by the agency that I lived too far away.

Sorry gents just curious just how good is the ££££ offshore I mean compared to say pts work or a normal part2 London wage? I've read the stories on here I assume its quite good as there are many blokes that want to do it

Its expensive.
About £800 for 5 days, plus add onto that: flight/trains/petrol too and fro and digs, if its along way from your house.
And, ofcourse a weeks lost wages.

Pretty expensive.
Money varies, from £1500 - £2000 a week, but you rotate 2 on, 2 off - or so im told, so that money has to last you when your home, retainers to come back? no idea if they still do them.
Trips can vary too, some im told are 3 on, 1 off, ect.

But again, its another string to the bow... and its not just valid in Britain, but all over.

Once you get that first trip in, your laughing... none of this: "you need experience first" nonsense, as you'll have that experience. :)

I've heard that's the hardest part jay getting first start

I actually nearly got a start on capes few years back, they had a job in deptford ( waste disposal or something different) only job in London at the time, I was talking to a Julie/Julia from there Kent office think she was involved with the operations not just the bird in the office lol she was saying that they would sent u offshore after the deptford job(trial/probation) but then I got a call from a firm that offered me more £££ and took it

Defo the biggest mistake I've made in scaffolding me thinks

Plenty of time to make more mistakes, lol.

Mine? Joining this Forum using my real name... i guess its not done me any favours.
F.uck it, if i got on due to arse licking, instead of my ability id have given up years ago.
I may be moany and a bit stroppy, but ill give anyine 110% 5.5 days a week (no one like grafting after 12:00pm on a Saturday, lol). :D

Anyway, its all about tickets Bobby mate.
More tickets = more opportunities.

Defo MUST get my Advanced Scaffold Inspection before Christmas, like ive been saying the last 4 years, lol.

You busy?
Much on?
Kinda out of the loop with London work since coming up to Jockland.

Give it 4 months and yal get off ne bother xmas ne cant wants to be on the rust buckets there is were your get ya ex for the following year

Yeah Jason well busy mate on tone well happy on here very good firm and the boys are second to none, in general I think all Of London is quite busy spoke to a couple of mates not just from on here but blokes I've worked with over the years and yeah all working and above all earning well. As for the tickets can't agree more that's why I enjoy being on here I'm gonna get a few good tickets hopefully by the end of the year as well as finally completing part 2 and its secure

I think the advanced inspectors card is only £3/400 so why not mate, having said that thought u would of had enough tickets mate ;)
