hey lads,

its torture for a scaffs labourer trying to get in the door, "sorry were only taking on scaffs" or "were not taking on labourers...

its seems to be its who you no, well i dont no anyone but i do no im a good worker, who just wants a chance to prove himself.

sent my CV to all the usual suspects, (cape, hertel, hasco etc) but nowt.

Im I pissing in the wind here or what???

im 28 allan, i've tried im sending that many emails every scaff company must have my cv on the comp lol

Hi labscaff, what about trying some of the more independent outfits which are abundant in Edinburgh. The C.V thing is all very well but nothing beats turning up at a yard of a Monday morning hungry to work when some other div is still slumped in his scratcher. Good luck.

Takes me back aom , when I was supervising I had a young 19 year old lad turn up three week on the trot at 6:30am Monday at the yard looking for the start labouring.

After all the grief the lads were giving me about not giving him the start, and my soft heart :noworry: I finally set him on.Turned out to be a very good lad and made advanced I believe a few years down the line

thats a fair point wi the turning up to the yards idea, but im meaning getting into to places like the power station, gas plants etc. Im getting nae where wi that!!

Wi being my age, the wage for a trainee scaff is £7 ph say is nae good unless the company puts me through my tickets, if i could get in the power stations, gas plants etc id save enough cash to put masell through my tickets....

You need to set your sights lower to start mate, good advice you've had on here already. turn up at the yards...
