Anyone looking to take on trainee/labourer in central Scotland.
I know it's a long shot iv been in the army for 12 years and due out in the summer time, looking for new career.
I have a full hgv (7.5 toner) and a hard worker.
My resettlement in the armed forces will pay for my part 1.

Cheers j

You will get a start in Edinburgh or Glasgow as a labourer/part 1. My advice would to be hit out your part 1 then approach the companies as the wage for part 1s tends to be considerably higher up here (you can get £12.50 an hour with part1 in edinburgh @ abc) so course will pay for itself in no time. Good luck an welcome to the forum

Cheers for advice.
Can I just go on a part 1 with no previous scaffolding experience?
Is there much work for scaffolders on central belt?
I'm from the Kincardine area originally so commutable for central.
Sorry for bone questions. iv been in forces for 12 year and trying to suss out a new career path. And weather or not I'm wasting my time.

Cheers

Didn't realise you had no scaffolding experience whatsoever buddy. What I suggest is ringing up local companies in your surrounding area close to when your due to leave the forces, explain your situation that your looking for work when you leave. The fact u have your 7.5t licence should stand you in good stead. If you get a start and enjoy the job and wish to pursue couple of months down the line with a little bit experience I would then consider booking part 1. I really don't know what the work is like in the central belt mate I've not worked on the street for years. I work industrial/offshore now but anyways lad hope this has pointed you towards a career that has served me well. Best of luck

u can always use your civvy street/british legion grant in future aswell.

What's the British legion grant mate? Never heard of that one before?
Is that the charity I pay a days wages to a year or is that different again?

Civvy street. you must of heard of them?> they support ex forces into employment by means of funding for courses Employment Support Grant Scheme

You have to be unemployed and provide evidence that it will lead to a job outcome. I found the best way is get on a local firm before you go in for it as you dont want to be the turd who turns up with out doing it but claim your a part one. Once a guardsman always a guardsman my freind good luck
