I had a conversation with hswt today about superstition and he told me a few things I did not know special about the time of the bubonic plague some things about wearing leather from dead people,I know its a bit morbid with the weekend comeing up but Do you know of any other superstition.

I have herd about rabbits foot for good luck but none of the others ,I must have led a sheltered life bigfish.

first went to Holland doing factory work strecthing copper pipes factory was called LIPS makes propellers ECT my first time away from UK,factory was full of Turks.

Superstitions? Don't start me!

OK, well, here are some collated ones: (hope we're not just talking scaff ones!)

(I don't necessarily buy into these.. ok!)

Broken mirrors - 7 years bad luck
Never cross people on stairs (yeah I know, tube & trains etc, maybe it only applies to home?)
When giving purse/ wallet as present, put at least a penny in so it's never empty
crossed knives (on table - silver service, boys) - bad luck
Giving knives as presents, bad luck, severs friendships
walking under ladders - yep been mentioned
black cats crossing the road in front of you, don't know why!
New shoes and tables - NO!!!

Funnily enough, I remember some years ago having this very discussion on a forum far removed from this and it was quite enlightening!
