Scaffolders required in London

Actually not, mate.

ALL of our scaffolders and labourers are 100% directly employed on a PAYE basis.

We also put all our trainee's and scaffolders through the correct training as required, and pay them whilst they are doing the training.

So no, it's NOT people in 'my position' who bring agencies in in the first place. I spent 15 years on the spanners and never once felt the need to even consider speaking to an agency for work. Just like I would not consider employing agency labour in my position as a manager.

It's a false economy anyway. Get decent lads, pay them well and provide them with the equipment and training they need to do the job safely & efficiently. Or use nomadic agency and sub-contract labour and recieve poor performance, a high turnover of lads and a lack of control.

I know which one I'll be sticking with, thank you.

Who brings Agencies in then Phil?
They fly in on Magic Carpet do they..??

I never said YOU.
I said people in your position, ie: Scaffolding Management. or am i wrong and these Agencies are forcing Firms to employ them at £25 an hour, when they wont pay their own men £18...??

So whats this?? I had that clown Fred yesterday and now i gotta deal with his sidekick??
Why does NO ONE on this Forum tell it how it is.

Scaffold Firms bring in the Agencies, for one reason or another.
Scaffold Workers do NOT.

You are very aggressive for someone with aspirations of getting a job in supervision/management one day. You need to grow up a bit and respect other people's opinions and views - just like the respect you demand and crave. This isn't the Jason Gibbs show.

As for the agency thing, I cannot be held responsible for what other companies or individuals do. Your argument it baseless anyway, and suggests to me that if you generalise and say that 'scaffold firms' are responsible for using agency scaffolders then its fair for me to suggest the scaffolders who work through these agency's are equally to blame.

Like I've said before, I consider agency labour the bottom-of-the-barrel stuff.

This is the scaffolding business Jason, not a girls primary school. Maybe if you spent your working days actually doing scaffolding, rather than making silly YouTube videos, you'd get a little bit further in the industry.

Im aggressive... yes.
Im sick of certain people on this Forum talking nonsense.
What am i gonna do? Roll over like a dog? Rub my tummy?
Not how i do things mate.

See... i have a very rare gift. Its called honesty. I tell the truth and how i see things.
A few more wanna take notice here.
Gets me in trouble? sure, but the colour of my tongue never got me a job nor has it ever paid my bills.
My ability with a Spanner pays my bills. Thats hows its going to remain.

Silly videos?
Well, seeing as each lasts only a minute or 2 and i take most of them in my break or when others are sitting in the smoke hut (i dont smoke) and i take on average of 1 a week im not really costingvanyone anything. 2 minutes a week aint really a pisstake is it?
Dont be jealous. Enjoy them... hundreds of others do. :)

Fact is, is that more Scaffold Firms are using Agencies because they are ASKED to provide Labour FOR Scaffolding Firms.
Firms simply wont take on direct, rather use and abuse blokes on an Agency fir as long as they are needed.
What choice does the Scaffolder have? Agency or dole?

Firms make Agencies possible... Scaffolders aint got much choice.
And THAT is the thruth Phil.

If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen Jason. You come across as a very bitter man who acts like a spoilt brat who has a trantrum when he doesnt get his own way or if people don't agree with his opinion.
If you do ever become a supervisor or manager you will learn that you need to listen to the opinions and ideas of others.
You called me a clown well you can call me what you like as long as you don't call me late for dinner.
Please don't refer to phil181 as my "sidekick" as he is his own man.

Unfortunately due to very strong employment laws taking people on full time and paying decent money is too much of a gamble for firms these days . Once employed for a year an employee has full rights and as such is difficult to remove ( even if he has turned into the biggest arse on the firm ). It is common for the big firms to pay of 100 guys to get rid of 3 . With an agency this problem is eradicated (sad but true) so the next time you are working with someone who ain`t pulling their weight but still expect top dollar it is your duty to tell them "it`s lazy sh1ts like you that get these agencies all their work" maybe then the client may see it beneficial to have the guys on the books and cut out the middle man . Only my opinion lads .

j.gibbs...u r on the money there! u spoke with such coolness and wer very truthful in wot u spoke...i lke that...i really hope ur as good with that spanner as u are talking.
