This, gentlemen, is a prime example of the cancer killing our industry.

Same as everything in this country Petrol, insurance, tax, agency's, they're all the same, we all moan about them but we do F all about it & wonder why we end up with a big footprint on our foreheads. All get together & stick together. We don't really need agency's they need us, without you working for them they WILL die. Stop taking sweets from the dirty old men, you'll get used & abused

as much as the agencys are a problem , if they paid a decent rate then that would be fine , its their avoidance of tax and AW regulations that are the problem , only the Gov.. can do somethng about this , and they aint interested......

Actually not, mate.

ALL of our scaffolders and labourers are 100% directly employed on a PAYE basis.

We also put all our trainee's and scaffolders through the correct training as required, and pay them whilst they are doing the training.

So no, it's NOT people in 'my position' who bring agencies in in the first place. I spent 15 years on the spanners and never once felt the need to even consider speaking to an agency for work. Just like I would not consider employing agency labour in my position as a manager.

It's a false economy anyway. Get decent lads, pay them well and provide them with the equipment and training they need to do the job safely & efficiently. Or use nomadic agency and sub-contract labour and recieve poor performance, a high turnover of lads and a lack of control.

I know which one I'll be sticking with, thank you.
